Title: Mk2 Injector rail etc
Post by: Rixy on 05 October 2008, 19:00
hi, can the mk2 golf gti 8v injector rail be removed from the head without removing the inlet manifold? only reason im asking is because i went to set my digi up earlier, and could hear a whistle - then i wiggled all the vacuum pipes etc, and noticed its comin from the inector rail. Gonna order some new seals etc from gsf i think, but dont wanna have to pull the inlet etc all off if i can get away with it.

also, the little caps under the injectors, that the seals seat on, do they remove with an allen key, as they look like the do, and if so, does any1 now what size??

Does it run ok?

Better to remove the inlet. Not much work and way easier.

I used a large flat head screw driver to undo those seals on the head (shoddy). Did the job! Sorry dont know the allen size.

I doubt the whistle is coming from the injector rail. Double check the vacume pipes

well it runs ok, but very lean top end etc, which is what also makes me think its pullin air in elsewhere. The whistle is deffo comin from the rail, as if i wiggle the rail, i can make it stop, or louder, depending on which way, and i did this whilst making sure i didnt move anything else, if ya know what i mean?

i will just remove the inlet then i think.....and see what i can do. So do the allen head thingy's undo very well, or are they a b!tch, and can i buy them new from vw, or do gsf do them?

does any1 have part numbers for the seals etc?

Injector rail will come off without removal of the inlet manifold, bit of a b!tch to put it back on though.

Might put my spare one on ebay if they go for anything like that 2nd hand!

As for the rail itself, be careful when tightening up the fuel hose from the FPR, too tight and you'll crack the plastic resulting in a new rail, not that i did that :lipsrsealed:
