Title: Remap comparisons
Post by: Hurdy on 05 October 2008, 15:54
Here is the graph of Torque/revs as a rough comparison between cars.

Obviously the cars are at various stages of tuneage.

I'll get a power comparison up soon.

These are lifted from Awesome GTI RR day and my recent RR day

Vtec - revo
Gaz - APR
Mine - CC

Is this a fair comparison seeing that the revo car did not have an uprated fuel pump?

You'll have to make your own mind up on that one.

There are quite a few things you can make analytical judgements on like:-

Most of the other cars will be faster off the line than mine.

Ben's will most likely be the fastest overall.

Mine holds torque longer.

Mine would only be faster under maximum attack from 5.5k to the redline.

Ergo, fuel pump gives you extra at the top end.

I'm sure other deductions can be brought to play.

Mine has always been lower powered at the bottom end - even when standard against most other ED30's, roughly 15bhp/20lbft  and similarly in other states of mapping, but I can't say that if my car was like the others it would get 345+bhp and 350+lbft can I? Maybe some people would say I could as the dyno was supposed to be reading 3% low :undecided:. Then again we are getting into that mad discussion again

very interesting torque comparisons tho....one being bit less than the others are lower end of the rev range!  wonder why they map it like that.  i suppose its smoother with no sudden "hit" like the others.

problem is there Hurdy 2 of the cars are on the same rollers on the same day, then yours is run on a different one, different day. Not really an accurate comparison
appreciate the effort you put in though

Revo is the purple line, yes mate..
Revo is just the Stage 1 map, APR and CC have uprated Fuel pump, intake and stage 2+ software (and CC also has FMIC)..
Good effort there though Mr Hurditch

nice try hurdy. I think we need all variances on the same RR at the same time  :nerd:

From what youve graphed , I dont understand the huge diff at 2500rpm , I can see why a map might reduce the torque levels , but I would still expect it to climb at the same point (you are even under the std car at this point!)
Was your car mapped specifically to avoid low rpm hit for the DSG?

looking at the graph Im surprised the REVO DSG cars dont jutst slip immediately after a remap

That is what I asked them for, but I didn't realise till I did the comparison that it was backed off quite that much

Can you update the above owners with other variables too?  Important ones to list are:

Am I going colour blind - I can't tie in the key on the right to the curves on the graph!  :undecided:

i have same problem. lolz

if revo is purple, is that on a gti rather than ed30?

all 3 are ED30's.

remapped 200ps GTI won't make anything near 300bhp!

the line out on its own is a standard ED30.

mines the std car I think so I can answer

total current mileage : either 6 or 8k miles
inlet mods (filters, induction kits, etc) : std
zorst mods (standard, cat-back, turbo-back, manufacturer, custom build) :std
fueling hardware mods (injectors, fuel pumps): std
internals mods (cams, porting, valves, etc) : std
petrol RON/brand : (99RON - Tesco99)
runing in style : (stepped approach as much as possible , erring on the enthusiastic side)

Mine's the Pink (Revo) car..
Mileage : 5k
Inlet mods (filters, induction kits, etc) : std
Zorst mods : Milltek TBE (GTI not Ed30 model, so 2.75" DP, not 3")
fueling hardware mods (injectors, fuel pumps): std
internals mods (cams, porting, valves, etc) : std
petrol RON/brand : (99RON - Tesco99)
runing in style : Steady for first 100-200 miles, then driven as normal (always warmed up properly though).
