Title: response
Post by: jon007 on 20 May 2004, 15:52
I've got a 2.0 16v but it's unresponsive until the revs kick in. What can I change - I'm on a (girlfriend imposed) budget? Currently thinking splitfire plugs, K&N and boost valve. Also need to sharpen up the handling - Will stiffer springs do the job or do I need to replace dampers etc? ???

1.. use optimax.. lol

2.. clean the thottle body

would prob avoid the boost valve.. been hearing mixed reviews on those.

optmix is definately worth using makes my mk3 run a hel of a lot bettter.

As for lowering spring i would go for spring and dampers personally, and i can tell u that u will notice one hell of a difference :)

i put a set of g&n sprigns and dampers on mine which they had on offer at the lincoln branch of german and sweedish set me back about 250 quid, and has dropped the car by 40mm and makes it go round corners much better

If the car is unresponsive then it is worth checking the static ignition timing.

k&n should give you a much sharper throttle response, definately get one as they will make it sound real nice as well.

not to sure abouit power boost valves, arent they a bit of a chav mod?

do they actually work? ???
