You can use your existing clips for the big bumper.
-
I thought big bumper clips are different?
Edit: never had big bumpers, just seem to remember reading it on here
-
yeah use big bumper clips if you use the small ones they are only a circle the big ones are like a rectangular thing much better fit!
-
This might help too:

Just a wee tip when get ur big bumpers cut a rectangle out of the back of the bumper where the towing eye is as u will have a problem if u ever need towing home.
-
there is a plastic cover for the towing eye that you remove to get to it. i much prefer getting towed forwards

Innit.
Why are you going big bumpers? They're so 2005, unless they were supposed to be on the car.

scene big bumpered mk2s are all getting changed to small bumpers. it's fresh. it's 2008. it's ghey.
big bumpers are the shiz. mind that you will need the big bumper arches and arch liners too otherwise it will look sh!t, like this:

tell you what ur funny arnt ya.
I mean on the front if u do the conversion and then dont cut the rectangle of the metal part of the bumper you are going to have problems if you want towing from the front as u can only see a small part of the towing eye and it isnt enough to fit a tow bar through due the thickness of the new big bumper rather than the small ones.
funny bastard.

funny fatherless son.
No, really, he is.
Not as funny as Sharpie, though.
He's a funnier cahnt.

it's not so much the width of the arches that's the problem, it's the length of them. it should be clear from the photo i posted above there is about a 2" gap from where the bottom of the big bumper should meet the arch liner/arch.
if that doesn't make sense, it will when you put the bumper on and see the big sh!tty gap.
-
ok big bumpers are now on (pics to folow) looks good but sap was right there is a small gap but not as bad as the one on the pic he sent and i cant seem to get them up to the line on the wings and back but they are up tight on the front and on the back its just the sides .is this normal or is there something i can do ill post pics later ok
-
If they are not Genuine VAG Items the will never line up!!! I had to replace both my front and rear bumpers and they have never matched up properly!! You cant really tell though!!
-
Unless they're a good fit (i.e. VAG) from the outset then you'll probably always have the sad sag on, like most big bumper conversions.
Waste of time and effort for something that now probably looks worse than it did to start.
-
you will b!tch about anything wont you
remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder

just been out and a glof vr6 owner just pullud up next to me and said i like the look now its much better lol
but im a perfectionist and i have to sort out the gap lol the back is fine but the front looks as if it needs to go on to the car by 10 mill so its not to bad and looking at some of the bigbumper cars on hear its just the same but i will fix my problem as it bugs me lol

that is only an issue your golf must breack down lots, mine dosent. towed quite a few big bumper golfs before its not exactly that big of an issue.
anyway i prefer the look of big bumper golfs as long as bumpers are fitted properly the gripe i have with them is the lower air dam, it's a bit east to snap / rip off. don't think the frount one is any heaver than teh small buper ether if you count in the bits of body that can also be lost when fitting big bumpers

or did u mean bigbumpers on a small bumper car ????
-
Spelling I think....................
Car looks good, done well to get them on.
-
small
-
bumber lol lol now i get it
like the winter ride chuff if thats what it is ?
-
get the bloody proper arches.
-
sharp you tell me why the back fits snug as a bug but the front dont and no the arches are not different there all the same so if i get new arches then the front will fit but the back will not so i cant win unles i put big arches on the front and leave the ones on the back but that look funny lol :undecided:
