What rubber is everyone running?
-
3 Dunlops and one Nankang (?) on the polo, and something cheap beginning with K on the golf ;D
-
4x dunlops sized @ 155/70R13 on the micra. tends to wobble round the corners compared to the 205/40ZR17 toyo's I'm use to lol
-
Some cheap loser put brand new GT Champions on the front of my VR6 not long before i got it. 7mm of tread left!! They are terrible. Especially in the wet.
I don't really want to replace brand new tyres, but i might just have too.
Had Eagle F1s on my gti, they were very good.
86mph now! That's more like it, keep pushing for 90!!!
-
pirelli p zeros are the sh!t!
michelon pilots are f**kin quality 2, used to have those on my coupe :D
ive got pirelli 600's on my 8valver now 8)
-
the golf used to have pirelli p6000's all round, but changed the wheels and got a good deal on the package 8)
-
yoko A539's. 195.45/15's all corners.
Ive taken corners at high speeds and they handle good. They stick soo well that they dont even screatch :o

got avons on the front seem pretty decent...
Think i would like Toyo's Proxies again though as they are the best tyre ive tred.
-
Got 205/50/15 Toyos on all 4 corners of my Mk3 GTI and they are by far the best so far. Previously had Conti, which lasted ages but crap in the wet and Dunlop SP Sport 2000
-
there's a set of 205/40ZR17 yokie A539's in my garage waiting for the toyo's to become illegal. ;D
blue, shouldn't u be running 195/50/15? ???
-
running on Toyo proxies here
-
Not more than 2 hours ago I popped down to my local tyre fitters and had some nice new Goodyear Eagle F1's put on (as recommended by people on here), got them from mytyres.co.uk and were a bargain. Will find out soon if they're any good!
But being the donkey I am I accidently clicked Michelin above by the time I realised it was too late! :(
So there's one too many votes for Michelin and one too few for Goodyear!
-
Continental Sport 195/45/14 front and 215/40/14 rear.
Conti are the only manufacturer to make this size for the rear, as far as I am aware, and I wanted to keep everything on the car as German as possible.
-
Goodyear Eagle F1s all round - I believe theyre run flat too. Inspires confidence ;)
I think they're great, but not really complimented by the crap standard suspension, which is on the list of 'stuff to buy' - just under 'buy house' - eek!
-
avon z3's here.was told they were good in all conditions.havent found out what their like in the wet yet(sunday driver)!! :) 8)
-
Rolling on Toyos and wouldnt want to ride on anything else :D I love my toyos, There great for launching, A lill sloppy in the wet and arnt 100% brilliant around the corners, But under acceleration or breaking you cant beat em!
-
on pirellii p6000 on my mk4 (when its on the road :'( ) there nice and hard and whereing well but it dont turn as quick as it did on the toyo proxies 225/45/17 which i have as new for when these run down a bit, 195/50/15's on the 16v er goodyear i think there good tyres i think well there newish when i banged wheels on so theyll do me for a year or so!!!,, should get mk4 back sat morn, bring it on
Gaz 8)

so according to the poll do pirelli6000's come under budget/ remoulds?? at 120 for a pair i hope not :o
got them on the front and yokies on the back! ;) :D
-
Heard great things about the Yokie A539's... when I got my car there was one tyre nearly on the canvas, one new utterly unknown plastic looking (remould?) and two badly worn (toe-in) Toyo's.
Wanted to get run-flat 205/45R17 Dunlop SP9000's, but was advised that it's screw up the balance of the car on the 45 profile (not dropped the suspension yet) and it'd also put the speedo / odometer out.
Ended up going for 205/40ZR17 Toyo Proxes T1-S. Very happy, but wouldn't mind a slightly softer ride as the cab can be pretty jolty somwtimes... might have to look at the 45 profiles again once I drop it (the SP9000 or A539's).
-
avons on front, yokies on the back. previous owner reckons its best like that. but i work in a tyre place so i can play around with all sorts of different rubber :D.
-
Got Pirelli P6000s on rear and Bridgestone Turanza ER30s on front. (225/45/17s all round).
-
sorry Vix. I forgot about that. i just went through the golf mag and wrote all the tyres I found.
Yokie A539's are awesome in the wet and dry, but wear fairly fast. I had a set on my 15's and they were getting very close to illegal after 7 months. I do about 200 miles a week.
Gonna try them on the 17's next as I'm less than impressed with the proxies.
