Title: [Group buy] German plates from theplateman.com
Post by: Shady Pioneer on 02 October 2008, 17:14

I emailed the bloke yesterday on a group buy for GolfGTI.co.uk, he gave me these figures:

5 Pairs - £150 (£30 a pair including delivery)
10 Pairs - £250 (£25 a pair including delivery)
15 Pairs - £300 (£20 a pair including delivery)

This includes delivery to each person.

So if anyone is interested let's get some names down and see how many we can get. Obviously he sells them £29.99 for a pair and that's not including postage so the more people the better I guess.

I wouldn't say it's worth it tbh, get them for less than that without the hassle

Ahh but they are made from really good material and better than paying half price for a half ass job on another set.

They aren't legal but most people seem to be running them and the fuzz don't seem to care too much.

yeah very pricey, you to be paying maximum of £15 delivered for a group buy for it to be worth it. Cause thats how much you can get them for on ebay. And they are very good, pressed metal plates with the band you want. ohh and the band isnt just a sticker, its actually built into the plate.

I got mine for £10 on ebay auction :afro:

LL ;)

What if I can get him to do them for £20 inc. p+p?

And that's if we can get 10 people?

Just to clear up are they legal and or worth it in a word no, I was stopped and fined twice for mine so threw them in the boot for shows only.

All to do with anpr cameras not being able to read them.

Don't take too much offense to this, but what great things have you done for the forum??

Thanks to Shady P for trying to save us a few quid. Its not your fault the seller didn't give you a good deal.

yeah fair play for trying to sort a group buy....

... however, with all the threads over the past year with people posting how they've been stopped and fined for having german plates it might not be the most popular group buy.
also to re-iterate they are not legal in anyway shape or form and you can expect diamond hell to come along and add his opinions on how pointless they are in the first place! :P

Apparently some ANPR cameras have trouble reading these.
