how do you get the split rim bolts off. It looks like a type of star key, but i dont have anything like that. Got t keys, t25, t30, etc, but they dont fit. Only that was close was a 6mm allen key. But didnt work.
Bolts says BBS V5 on them. Not sure if its a special bbs key, anyone shine some light on this?
any help is much appreciated,
cheers,
LL ;)

Take a trip to Halfrauds and tell them you want a 12 point socket.
I have one, works fine.

i dont need a socket, i need an allen key type thing with a 12 point star end. I tried to get a pic, but it just goes blurry when up close. trying to refurb them, so i need to split them.
cheers,
LL ;)

8mm spline i think, you will get one from snap on or another good tool supplier
-
I just refurbed my RM's, as the man said need a 12 point socket from Halfrauds which goes on the front of the bolt, will set you back about £1.99..........
-
Alex i wouldnt use an alen key as there more likely to chew the splines!! and them bbs bolts arn't cheap... get a socket and make sure you torque the bolts back up correctly!

IIRC a 10mm splined socket fits over the bolts. Like Bradley said...dont use an allen bit. It will chew up as they are torqued up real tight and probably have lock-tite on them too.
a breaker bar and a ratchet on the rear nut should do it

Lets see a pic of the rims you've got then! can't wait to see them on ya mk3
-
i got them cheap as needed refurbing, but they are 5 stud, so not for car, just something to do with spare time. i quite enjoy refurbing them tbh, cant to see them finished either! They look like the mk3 anni splits, but not sure.
anyway........ cant use a socket to go over bolt as its not that type of bolt. i would never use an allen key as it isnt the right bit to use. I meant i need an allen key type thing, but instead of being a hexagon, it would be a 12 point.
just found this on ebay, where could i get a set of those from, with a torque wrench, cause i defo dont want go getting the wrong torque, could kill someone!

He means a multi-spline torx as required for RXII splits.
Try Halfords, if not pop on ebay and grab one. I needed a set and got a Sykes Pickavant set for £8 delivered.
Lewy
Blue, it's an 8mm socket for the bolts and 10mm for the nuts.
Come on, everyone knows that!
