I had a bad night on Monday, firstly the mrs went to Florida for 3 months and then my car would'nt start outside her house, the ignition lights and radio came on but the engine did'nt even crank over, i thought there can't be a battery fault and tested the battery and it read 13.7 Volts so it was fully charged.
then i looked down to the starter motor and cleaned the terminal up going to the battery negative that wasn't the fault, it was the earth wire going from the starter to the bodywork, it had just corroded and broken in half, so i got a new one and soldered it. before i realised this and getting it in the garage i had to bump start the car 4 times so the clutch isn't going to be too happy.
Has anybody had this problem on petrol or diesel? its quite a sh!t design cause the wire is exposed to everything and isn't even coated in plastic.
