I'm interested in a 16v abf chip. Mine is definately not soldered in though, its a push fit. Car is 1996 model.
Let me know if you need more information.
Photo of chip attached if that helps

pm danny_p about this, he was looking for one not long ago.

Sorry for the late reply, I have only just found this post.
Thats the right chip, what is the number on the ECU?

Thanks.
The car is a trackcar, has a magnex cat back exhaust and a decat pipe if that makes any difference.
Cheers

Hello m8!
If you can get your ori chip to me I will get a tuned chip made up for you to have as play with, If it is what your after then the price will be around £125, if not you can send the chip back.
But I will need your chip to get the ori file for you to work from.

Great thanks for that, its always good to know that royal mail get stuff there.
I look forward to trying out the new chip

Hey sorry to hijack but this one seems to have potential, Im looking for a similar thing by the looks of it, let us know how the chip deal goes on!
-
Yep, im deffo interested in a mk3 16v chip, they dont seem to be very readily available. How are you getting on with it?
-
Not had the chip back yet, I'll let you know when it arrives and I've tried it.

Nick
After our conversation the other week did you manage to send out the chip?
I haven't received anything yet.
No problem if you haven't had the chance, just worried in case it has dissapeared within the post office system.
Cheers

Hello Paul,
Have have flashed the chip today, There was a bit of a debate on checksum but John@DNA came up with the conclusion it was pre checksumm software, so from what John said I am happy to write the map to the chip and send it back to you tomorrow. Let us know the results..

Cheers, I'll get it installed and let you know how it performs.

bumpety bump bump. Anymore news on this?

I've received the chip from Nick and will hopefully be putting it in on Friday.
I'll post up how I get on with it after that.

Excellent stuff, look forward to hearing the results.

I have fitted a new R-Tech chip into my abf today.
All fitted with no problems. Car starts and runs fine, slightly differant exhaust note, and ticks over steady.
On the test drive the throttle response is a bit more instant and it definately feels to have more grunt above 3500rpm. Really wants to pull at the upper rev range.
I had some problems on the track before on some corners which were too fast for second gear but third gear was a bit too high and you ended up a bit bogged down in third. With the new chip it definately seems to pull better in third from lower speeds. Flat out the car seems to just want to pull all the time through all the gears.
Much better than the standard chip and better than the Powerchips on I have been running.
I would definately recommend the R-Tech chip. Nick has done a good job on this and kept me well informed with his progress while he was sorting it out - Cheers Nick.
Cant wait to try it out on the track next year.

Brilliant news m8!
My main worry was the chip type and edited sw checksumm, but i think your last post has just gave me the answer I was hoping for..
Let me know how you get on when you do your next track day. Which track do you use?

Cheers Nick, well impressed. Seems like you got it right first time.
Next track day will be in February. I do a lot of airfield days, mostly Abingdon, Hullavington and Colerne. But get to Castle combe whenever possible, got a day booked at Goodwood in March (must remember to dodge the horses !!!).
I'll let you know how it performs after the first one of next season.
Cheers

Excellent stuff, sounds promising. So how do i get my mits on one of these ?
-
It would be interesting to do a back to back power test with a standard chip
-
Yes it would, if someone wants to pay for it I'll be willing to get it done

Contact Nick at R Tech and he should be able to sort one out for you.

A few people have said they are going to start doing chips for the ABF, including R-Tech, has anyone got one ready to go? and has anyone done a power test with the chip?
-
Chips to take away? lol not us m8.
The chips we will be doing for the mk2 & 3 petrol engines will be base on the read from the file on the oem chip. There are 100s of software and hardware combinations and to get the car to running right the tuned map software will need to match the hardware and build date. A mix matched chip will work and will give a bit more power aur can cause higher fuel comsumption, cold start issues, higher emmisions, and engine knock, but with a true map based on the correct sw you will far better results, which the correct start up enrichment, correct emmison controls correct fuel and ignition. If a job is worth doing it is worth doing right.
You can send your ecu or chip to us, or you can pop in to us. Where are you from?
Nick

have aquired quite a collection of chips for the abf, and done a couple of my own now. just dosent seem worth doing them to sell. with time and before and after dynoruns. tho have got to go and get a baseline for my new engine so if still have dyno time will take a couple of diffrent ecu's and keys and post results

We took the Golf to Goodwood last Friday for its first trackday since fitting your chip.
It was all good, the car seems to pick up better in both third and fourth gear after braking for the corners. It revs and pulls well all the way up to the red line. We were hitting the rev limiter in fourth on the approach to Woodcote corner (117mph) . The car didn't miss a beat all day, 7 sessions on the track and a 2 1/2 hour journey both there and back.
Looking forward to testing it out next month at Abingdon on a track I know well.
Well impressed.
Cheers

Hello Paul,
Sound like you had some good fun then! We have just purchased a second hand Bosch load based rolling road and the Bosch diagnostics system which will allow us to tune the older cars on the dyno. It should be installed over the next 2 or 3 weeks, so if you even want to pop down for a fine tune and data logging session just drop me a pm. Once the Bosch dyno and the old skool diagnostics system has been fitted we will be offering the chip tuning service as a every day thing.

Any info on the chips for the mk2?
I'm guessing that means PB engines?
Does this mean if we bring our cars to you you can custom write a chip for it?
cheers :)
-
Would be quite interested in a 'non-generic' chip for a mk2 so any info would be grand :)

We went to Abingdon on Friday and the chip performed really well. 10 sessions on track and no problems. The car now pulls well out of the corners in third gear where it was bogging down before in third but too fast to drop down into second.
Best lap time was a good 4 seconds quicker than at the end of last year and average lap times are now rivalling last years best.
Interested in your rolling road set up when you are up and running.
Cheers
Paul
-
4 seconds quicker?? cannot be nicks remap imo it must be your driving getting better..lol
The dyno will be set up for sweep power runs and graphs towards the end of july once nick has got his wedding and honey moon paid for and they have tied the knot. the upgrade for the rolling road is going to cost us around £5.5k alone but it will be one of the best set ups around for power runs - load based remapping and rolling road days with a bar-b-q heheheheh.
At the moment the rolling road is fully running and set up for load based tuning only so no power curves just KW output at a given rpm/speed which is better than an inertia power run.

Yes driving getting better.
Let me know when your up and running after July and I'll book in.
