Don't do it!
Less power
Still don't think it is as well resolved as the MKV shape
At least hold off until the K04 versions start rolling in
-
Alan Day are phoning me as soon as they have a demonstrator in

totally agree the mk5 looks better.
Don't waste your Monies guys , if anyone does want a mk6 Gti, it'll be the same as giving this guy your monies

Spoke to my local dealer and he said orders will start September 2009! Is this right do you think? I thought it would be around March?
-
I was told around late may.
-
in the Netherlands they say about late May early June

No way, not so soon! Let them iron out the issues and teething problems first! Plus there's no incentive for discounts and stuff as it's so new they won't need to offer people great deals to sell them.
The MkVI isn't that different to make me want to ditch my MkV so soon. And what with the current financial climate I think I'll be hanging on to the MkV that I've only had 6 months for at least another 12-24 months as I doubt I'd be in the market for a new car until at least early 2010. However, if I keep getting 33% wage increases it might be sooner
-
Hey Guys
we have to see one in the flesh first i think!! it does look pretty cool in white me think thats the GTI

didn't like the MK V so defo don't like this, looks like i will keep my MK IV for eva !! Well at least till go back to my roots with a lovely Mk 1 at some stage
-
You prefer the look of the MK4 to the MK5?
M5 looks better than the MK4 imo, but the MK6 looks like a new beast altogether

You and me both mate! Mk4 all day long. The got the rear of the Mk5 wrong with that black bumper bit through the rear number plate! R32 is the best looking Mk5. Mk6 is looking nice though....

Black bits are still there, thank goodness.
Can't stand fully coloured in cars, they just look cheap.
-
There growing on me & i love the ''new'' steering wheel, but still a bit dear foe me to buy new.
-
The only thing I like about the MK6 is the rear exhaust being split, so one on each side.
Thats what they should have done with the MK5 IMO - which is why I like the R32 rear!
Other then that, the new shape hasnt grown on me yet, I still prefer the MK5.

In The Netherlands the new GTi VI is priced at 31650 Euro(s) = 29436.4 British Pounds

It really does say a lot regarding price etc when you have not one person in this forum has ordered one yet. I hope VW falls on their face with this one and has no choice but to lower the price.
I'm not going to order till they do. The depreciation on this car due to the crap £ is not something I'm prepared to pay for and also the overpriced extra's are a joke.
But boy do I want one.
-
I do quite like the look of them, and I love the interior, but its not really got anything substantial over the MK5 so I'm certainly in no hurry, and especially not at those prices. I don't think there will be a huge take up on this one - which is good for the mk5 residual values
Think my next car will be a MK5 R32

Ordered mine this week. Expected delivery June (we'll see), which was a lot sooner than I anticipated. Was told by my dealer that I was lucky to get one of the first, as supply is limited. Apparently all dealers will be given two initial build slots in March for early June delivery. The next available build slots won't be until May... and again it will be restricted to two slots per dealer. I find this hard to believe. Probably some cock and ball story to get me to sign on the dotted line.
Part-exing my current Focus ST. Nothing wrong with the ST (in fact its probably one of the best 'all-round' cars I've owned), however I thought I would try something a little more easy on the pocket with regards to running costs. I was barely managing 20mpg with the ST... and that was driving conservatively. Getting 8-10K miles out of the continental sport contacts was also considered good. Long range distance was also very limited.... You could do around 200 miles on a full tank.
I'll be sad to see the ST go..... but equally I can't wait to pick up the new GTi
-
Nice one, so what spec have you gone for? Fill us all in
-
Sorry to let you all down, but all I've gone for in terms of spec are the optional 18" Shadowline Monza's (£385)... Not really my cup of tea (probably grow on me), but far better than the standard 17" (Much prefer the alloys on the MkV Edition 30m or BBS Challenge). It will be in candy white in 5 door spec due to family commitments... again, much prefer it in 3 door guise, however if family wasn't a concern I would have bought a Scirocco or Ford Focus RS. Just a shame they don't do a colour that is exclusive to the GTi. White just seems a little boring and is done to death at the moment by other marques, but equally the other colour options just don't show off the car in the best light.
-
I'm jealous gung-ho, congrats on your purchase, soon as you have this badboy get some pics posted up for us to drool over

Dont worry, I dont blame you especially given the base price!! Look forward to seeing some pics of her when she arrives. I bet you are excited

Thanks... excited, Yes, but June seems such as long way off. Will post some pics as soon as. Lets hope it looks as good in the flesh as it does in the recent press shots. Roll on June!

Did you buy it without viewing it in the flesh ? wow.
I'm not sure where you are in the world but I think they are rolling into the garages now, friend of mine says Dundee VW garage had big sign up saying 'new GTI in here now' and Glasgow VW (although not sure which garage yet) has a GTI too.

what kind of deal did you get on it mate to give us an idea?
-

Yep! I don't normally buy, until I've had at least a test drive..... but on this occasion I'm "throwing caution to the wind" having owned previous incarnations of the Golf GTi (Mk 3 & 4).... I'm pretty sure I can't go far wrong.
You sure they've got demos up in Scotland so early? I can't wait to see one in the flesh. Has anyone else seen demos anywhere else apart from Scotland? I ordered mine from VW in Bristol and the earliest demo they'll have is sometime in June!!! It looks like they need to pull their finger out.
-
I ordered mine yesterday in The Netherlands, Candy White, DSG............can't wait
