Title: Broken 'leccy window!
Post by: gti_taff on 18 May 2004, 18:24
Just when summer and the good weather comes along, my electric drivers window has stopped working! Normally i'd just put it in the local vw speacialist but right now i am very skint and so im gonna have a crack at doing it myself.
I was wondering if anybody has any experience of this kind of fix - any info would be much appreciated.
As I press the switch i hear a click and you can see the rev's drop a slight bit; just like wot normally happens. So i think it could be the mechanism that raises/drops the window.
Help!

sounds like you need a new window regulator.

Maybe worth taking off your door panels and seeing if they match up
You cant seperate the motor unit from the sliders though unless you dismantle the unit and take out the actual motor
Good luck :)

Im in the club too.

(Posted this in another thread as well but hey)
I know there is the motor for driving the window up and down but what you you call the runners/cable that join it all together? (sorry for the stupid question) its just that I need the whole lot and not sure what im meant to be asking for. Is it the motor and regulator  or window mech, motor and regulator?

Cheers
