Title: 1.8 driver turbo?

i was reading on vw vortex and someone said u can use the 1.8 driver bottom end on a 8v gti to drop the compression to 8. sumthing is this possible? would it actually work?

Don't believe everything you read on vw vortex ::).
Don't think the chamber sizes differ that much to drop as low a 8 to 1. You could drop in g60 pistons or the whole engine to have a good engine for boost.

im pretty sure the 1.8 driver short block is the same as the GTI.

maybe they mean the 1.6 ??
