I have an 8v as most of you probably know, you probably also know i have a custom powerflow straight through and sports cat. You probably also know my mk3 has a wing differently coloured due to an A-hole hitting my car.
I cba to get it all sprayed and fixed in the end. So i have decided to EITHER get another 3 door 8v OR a 3 door 16v and then just get them side by side, and swap my coilovers and exhaust over, to give me the new car, modded as this one is, and the old car, back to standard.
Question is, if i were to purchase a 3 door BLACK 16v mk3, would my sports cat and powerflow custom exhaust fit dirrectly onto it? or are the bores different? I would probably get it done by the powerflow dealer to insure i kept my lifetime warrenty. But wanted to know if it would be a problem to do or not?
Cheers
Mike

it depends on the year of the 16v.....upto 96 the 16v used the same catalyst and will fit/should fit directly on
-
if not, the difference would be minimal to be made to fit you think? baring in mind its all custom made anyway, so could just weld on another bit to make it fit maybe?

THREAD HIJACK!!
On the mk3 8v what would happen if you took the cat and drilled the honeycomb centre would this be of benefit, reason i ask is iam looking to buy a 8v and today when driving the car it rattles when driving but oddly when changing gear it disappears then returns once the clutch is deppressed, owner reckons it the exhaust as he drilled it some time ago when he couldn't get the ceramic cat off?
Or is it something else??
need help as its the only thing stopping me buying it.

You could remove the cat internals (but dont breath in the bits that fall out as it contains enzymes that cause luckemia!) oh and it will fail the m.o.t and will change the rev range due to reducing back pressure.. i would offer £100-150 less if its a cat fault as thats what it would cost to replace

They said it passed the mot as the emmisions were low as they let it run for a while, i am thinking its the gearbox making the noise hence its ok when clutch is in.

I would say its more likely a clutch fault if it goes into gear fine and dosent wine etc?? Clutch's are around £150 fitted!!

mines started to wineee in reverse. Never used to and is fine in forward gears :(
Rol on the valver!!

let this one go, did all the checks on the mk3 info sticky and while mostly good i didnt like the noise.reverse was ok it didnt jump out.
