Title: Head Gasket
Post by: Guy on 26 September 2008, 16:28
looks like it is on it's way out - all sorts of crap in the coolant

so... what do i do?

get a straight repair, or spend a bit (a lot) more and drop a 20vt in there or ditch the car now and get something a little more punchy... or should i do something else?  :undecided:

all opinions welcome?

How do you know it's the HG? I'll do a compression test tomorrow if you like.

1.8t!!!!!! You no you want to lol!

Realistically though, probs not worth selling as it would be hard to sell IMO- i no i definately wouldnt buy a car with a head gasket on the way out unless for abosl*te peanuts.

Fix and sell? Not sure how much it would cost as thankfully ive never had to do it!

Or just fix and keep!

if the rest of the car is mint and it means something to you, i.e. you would be reluctent to sell, then drop a 20vt in. You could really tidy the engine bay up as well, give it a really good clean and have a sparking show engine, mmmmmm

of course it would perform too!! i guess there is more you can do with a 20vt too, bigger turbo, intercooler, remap to kick out more bhp.

If you can afford it, and you really love the DUB, then DO IT!!!

LL ;)
