There were only about 6 cars in there and I remember a Rover 75 parked opposite. Tow bar?
Time to consider a new front!!
Costs please!
-
Nooooooooooooooooooo
looks like something has like eaten and melted it at the same time!?
Don't Morrisons have CCTV on their car parks? Certainly do in camden as they managed to give me a ticket :@
-
Gutted for you Hurdy
Like Wob said any chance of CCTV coverage??

Went back inside, but CCTV....you've guessed it....doesn't show that part of the carpark, so can't prove what hit my car.
-
Bad luck Hurdy - sorry for you. I hope the b@stard that did it has a real $hit day.
-
unlucky pal, tis not too bad though eh?? could have been alot worse, lol
-
Well surely they can see what cars have gone in and out, then all you need to do is a process of elimination!?
-
oh man, that just plain awful. So sorry for you. Can't tell how deep it is but can it be repaired? I did see these on fleabay, not sure about the quality tho...

Best of luck and stalk the car park till you see that Rover again...

True, but the exit CCTV shows all the cars passing that have been in the Garage for fuel too!
Plus, who's to say whether or not it was someone who came in, hit me and then simply parked up somewhere else and was still there when I left. This is what I hate about f**king carparks, every man, woman, and old biddy with no eyesight goes there and tries to park

Good spot, but it has the lower lip of the standard GTI fixed to it as one piece, so no good for me. Thanks for looking though. I may actually look at a replacement aftermarket front end. :undecided:
-
im almost half tempted to say it looks like an exhaust pipe hit it?
-
im almost half tempted to say it looks like an exhaust pipe hit it?
If it's that high, then It would have to have been a 4x4......getting its own back for all those overtakes I've done on them
-
God that is so so annoying...
Get a private investigator!
-
Now who can we possibly ask to recommend a certain type of front splitter that will fit the GTi/Ed30???
hmmmmm forgotten who might be able to help you on this one john!, His cars having some sort of diff thingy fitted today, and has a
tendency to "mod it My child".
Give him a bell mate, im sure he can get you some discount from OSIR.
-
Know exactly how you feel mate!! Mines still not repaired... but it could be a blessing in disguise. Like Phil said.. could be a nice time to treat yourself to a nice new shinny front end
-
Hi Steve (Phil Mc),
The lower section of the front is perfect (if you ignore a few stone rashes). It is the main body section of the front end that is dented
OSIR front splitter would be good, but I'd still need a main body front end too
-
The pit marks around that suggest something hit at speed, could it have already been there before you parked up?
-
ah not good Hurdy
hate people who hit and run
hope you get it sorted :afro:
-
sorry to here that Hurdy, hope you get sorted a-sap!
sumthin in CF to replace might cheer you up abit!
-
what aboutttt....
looks like a bit of a monster truck there though...
-
Sorry to see this Hurdy, some inconsiderate di** has obviously realised they have done it and drove off!!! Really angers me, things like this happen far too much these days!
-
The pit marks around that suggest something hit at speed, could it have already been there before you parked up?
I'm sure it wasn't there when I parked up in the garage last night and it definitely wasn't there when I set off from work last night at 9pm.

Looks good , but that is the GTI-R that was done as a one off, so I doubt very much that the front end is available
-
Just get handy with a bit of plastic welding!
Im sure I remember a company who would press a new bumper given the design..?
-
Sorry to hear about your motor Hurdy mate ,had mine since march 1st(08) one month later parked it in a carpark being really careful where i left it,anyway to cut a long story short some moron in a f***ed up mondeo had parked up next to mine(the carpark was massive and empty) and must have opened there door right in to the rear panal,it had'nt dented but had left a paint mark, found it when i got back to motor and the culprits rust bucket was still there,so me and my lass proceeded to kick the crap out of it,as a finish off i got my ED key like a flick knife and run a nice BIG LINE down the side,it made me feel alot lot better anyway, got home washed it and it disappeared it must have been there paint that had rubbed on mine
Anyway back to sorting YOUR motor out, have you ever been to Cosmetic repair solutions there based on Broombank road,Chesterfield 01246 450012 very good people down there very professional, there do all Gilders work, might be worth a drive round there and see what they say about fixing it up
-

Dude I'm surprised anyone would pubicly admit to such actions and make me very afraid...
-
....
Absolutely sickening, but surely that's easily repairable judging from the pics.
-
Booked in for a repair with "Shine". I'll let you know how it turns out, but isn't booked in till the 17th Oct as they are Verrry busy. I suppose it shows that:-
1. They are in demand and so cannot be too bad a company.
2. There are a lot of motherless sons around doing this kind of thing to lovely motors.
Due to size and depth repair has been quoted at £135, but the work is guaranteed to be invisible repair and spray and is guaranteed for 3 years.

....That sounds spot on!
Don't worry, Hurdy - She'll be back good as new sooner than you can add up all your mods!

 Bang out of order here mate - sorry! Yeah we get pee'd off when this happens, but your reactions make you no better than them - in fact worse. Let hope no one does the same to yours huh?
-
Sorry to hear that Hurdy, the cheek of some people !!
Atleast leave a bloody note with contact details.
I had the VW dealership chip my front bumper and try to fob it off, barstards.
The worst thing is knowing us anal owners , one little chip bugs the sh!t out of me !!!
-
My guess your paying out of your own hard earned john.£135 isnt worth letting insurers know.
You'll be all loved up with her soon mate.
What a feckin lowlife whoever done it, i expect it was either someone that past their driving test 60 years ago whos so blind they didnt even realise they
reversed into something  or another ilegal imagrant with no insurance doing a runner .
-
My guess your paying out of your own hard earned john.£135 isnt worth letting insurers know.
Yes you are right. It isn't worth going through the insurance. I would have liked it to be the culprits' £135 though.

Listen when i've payed 24k of my hardearned and some muppet takes the p**s things happen, for every action theres a reaction,i did feel abit guilty, but i bet they did'nt,it could have cost me alot of money or an insurance claim
-
Hi Hurdy - it's a sad day
Thing that really annoys me is that people have no respect for others' property. Like the flats where I live, people keep on forcing the gates open so they can park in the carpark.
Could have been a lot worse than 135 smackers but the pi$$er is you're paying for someone else's misjudgement.
Hope it gets sorted soon.

Sorry about your bump John  . Before Iv'e been sat in the wife's car in hospital car parks, where the person in the next car will open their car door into the side of yours. Then they have the cheek to look at you as if its your fault!!!!
At GTI International didn't a GTI on the AMD stand have a similar front end??

'All RLL' is the car car I was meant to have had last week - I've been promised a drive in it to make up. I don't much like the bodywork but it's very fully loaded!
-

This kinda thing really winds me up. I went to Halfrauds last weekend to get some autosol metal polish. Eased the car into a row of six bays, all empty. Five seconds later, some girl with her bf park up right next to me! There were nine other bays outside halfrauds. What the f--k!?!?!?
-
Have you also noticed stealth, that when on a dual carriageway/motorway, you get alot of hangers to the side of you looking at your motor!!, they all of a sudden slow down and rubber neck whilst going past. Tis funny cus it happens alot!, but same thing happened to me at tescos this morning, i parked right at the back of the carpark, had over 20 spaces around me! and some City rover had pulled to an inch of my passenger side FFS!!.
WHAT IS IT WITH SOME PEOPLE

This happened something like four times when I first drove my car on the motorway, two days after I bought it. I was going at the speed limit too!

But if someone gets on the wrong side of me its fireworks time,in this day and age you've gotta stick up for yourself you know
-
sorry to see the damage hurdy, ive just extended my drive to accomadate a £50 sh!tter just for going to supermarket gym etc i can garentee no one will ever hit it, sods law.also whilst your at tescos etc look out for the arseholes that cant be bothered to put there trolleys back and just dump them next to there car and the drive off. saw an old boy just push his trolley away on a slight down hill towards my car told him if it hit my car i would have jumped on the roof of his car writing it off(ford escort so easily done)he moved pretty quick and put it in the trolley bay.arse
-
Oh god trolleys! Why can't anyone put them back properly? I park away from trolley points so no one pushes the trolley in the direction of my car.
I would happily pay an extra £1 (per hr) to park in a secure, spacious area of the carpark, complete with a security guard.
-
Sorry to bump this all the way back up...
How was the repair? Does it look ace again?
And both the thunderbunny and .:R type bodykits can be bought. VW sells them.
Mike

It seems I did :lipsrsealed:.
Sorry,

Company came this afternoon to do the bump on my front bumper and did a good job
Overall the repair is about 99% removed, but if I really look up close I can just make out where it was, so gets a pass in my book. Bloke who did the job had been doing it 20 years, which settled me down a little. He also buffed out some minor blemishes on my front wing for free whilst he was drying the paint with the heater .
Before

Top job Hurdy ! looks like nothing ever happened !
i know seeing a dent on the car must drive you nuts !!!
-
Congrats man.
Now I need someone of similar calibre in the midlands.
-
That actually looks like a really good job! Can not tell at all from those pics...
Should have got him to do mine in my garage!!
-
Did they do the whole lower splitter john?? cus bright silver will show where its been sprayed, It looks too bright to me??? maybe the light just shining on it. Was it from a Proper pressurised Paint gun and hopefully not from a can.
-

It wasn't the lower splitter that was damaged, it was the main bumper section just above it. So, if you thought from the picture it was the splitter that didn't look like it matched the upper section is only partially sprayed in the picture.....so it must be a good match
The match is spot on
It was so good a match I asked him if he could let me have the rest of what he had mixed in a jar like TagnuT's - and no I'm not kidding either
Yes, he had proper pressurised spray equipment too. If he'd turned up with a can of VW paint then I would have kicked him out and done it myself as I've got a can in the garage
-
good news John
-
....
Great news, John - Makes you feel good to have her back to normal :afro:

Sorry to hear about this Hurdy... to be honest, I am so anal, I wouldn't have been satisfied without a whole new front grill   But then again, i would cost too much £££££££££££££££'s
