Hi Guys,
Just joined the site tonight, and probably down to the cheap Port I've just purchased from Tesco have decided once and for all, I will most certainly be putting some 18s onto my black 3dr '53 150 gt tdi- as soon as possible! I've always liked the mk4 r32 alloys, but have recently had a liking towards the 18 mk5 monzas. Has anyone put the monzas on a mk4? Any pics please. There are lots of mk4s with r32s on, but haven't seen any monzas on mk4s.
What do people make of this choice? I want to stick with stock looking 18s as I'm 28 now so am passed the rude boy stage, I just want a respectable subtle look. Also, with an 18in alloy, what would be a sensible drop? Can I get away with a standard 35mm or 40mm drop or do I really need to go for adjustable height suspension to make sure??
Anyway that's it. Port has taken effect and the typing is taking longer and longer! Thanks for looking, any advice would be appreciated as I now bugger all. Thanks
Simon

Port at 28? Old man. I never drink that
mk5's are different fitment to mk4 so any monza's in 5/100 (mk4 fitment) are 'fake'. Could look good though. (or run pcd adapters)
Have a look at rimstyle.co.uk and/or buy a copy of PVW and see rimstyle and more adverts. There are ways to make a solid original equipment style choice without being too obvious.
Coilover suspension alloys endless messing about, just depends how much into this stupidity you want to get :)
Welcome to the site anyway

A 30-40mm drop should be fine with 18s on springs or springs and shocks. If you go any lower than 40mm you may start having problems with the front ARB rubbing on the drive shaft.
I'm going for 18s and Eibach springs.
Welcome to the site anyway.

Doh just seen this thread

Ok thanks for the replies. Ok, so it looks like I'll go for a 35-40mm drop- not sure if I'll just got for springs or a full kilt yet. I don't really want to start messing arouind with ARBs and stuff- don't need it too low either. The choice of wheel is tough though. Anyone know if any other 18" VW manufacturer-style alloys from a Passat/ Bora / Beetle etc would fit the mk4. I really want to keep a standard look, but with 18" inch wheels if that makes any sense. I've seen the 19" Phaeton alloys on another post here and they look perfect. Shame they're not 18" and don't fit the mk4!! Typical!! Any ideas? Thanks for the previous replies

here is my car on some different type of 18's (some before it was dropped so just image it was!)

Hey thanks for the pics, yes I do like the RS6s, but, )and I know its way off looking anything near standard), but do people think of the SSW Speed alloys. Have tried in vane for about ten minutes to find out how to post a pic of them on here, but with no success, so afraid you'll just have to google it. anyone got them on their mk4?? thanks again

photobucket.com

Someone's selling some on here (in 17's, tho) if that's any good?

I LOVE these

Yes they are the lovely little babies! Yes i love them too!! Will check out photobucket.com to see how to get pics on here. Have seen them, with tyres, 18", for 625. Very tempted but I know it will look far from standard, if I put them on. Will search around for other VW/ audi style looking alloys too and see what I can come up with. Decisions, decisions . . . .

These look awesome on a mk4 but it has to be SLAMMED TO HELL to actually pull it off imo

Yes I think you're probably right there.
And to Ivor- thanks but I think its got to be 18s for me
