further to my last,

I tunred the ignition to 2

all lights flash then the water one goes out.

stays out for about 30 seconds ( same as when engine is running ) then starts flashing again

so this fault is the same with or without engine running

are the 3 sensors on the end of the block

i have red / yellow, blue / white and green/ red wires going to 3 sensors, all round the big plastic flange.

help please, I dont fancy blowing me engine up

I think its the red/yellow sensor thats your dash temp gauge. Swap that wire round onto the other sensors to see if the fault clears up??  Perhaps the overheating baked the sensor?

is it a pre-90, if so the light is controleld by the coolant light control relay, #53 clipped above the fusebox.  pop it out and see if that sorts it!

conker had same problem,
changed coolant tank and tried all configurations of the senders and readings didnt change..light still flashing!
Funny thing is, it suddenly stopped flashing in the good summer weeks and started flashing again recently!
Ive left it to the clocks..... :lipsrsealed:
Good luck

Mine was faulty expansion tank wiring. Bought one from ECP and all sorted.

right then, up at 6am   and started afresh.

changed all 3 sensor wires rounds. STILL the same   engine running ( neighbours will no doubt be round complaining again )  or just ignition on

went out of the garage and chose one of the 2 corsas to kick - daughters was nearest - kicked satis

went back in and put everything back to how it was.

started back at the begining. water level good ( still trying to bleed and leak check )

Bridged the expansion tank wire again - PROBLEM VANISHED  :undecided:  so I am hoping that I have cured summat by doing nothing or just moved the fault in the short term. Annoying thing is, the tank is only 5 months old

so it looks like its a trip out this avo for a new expansion tank , redo the bleed and leak check, then complete rebuilding it all so i can take it off the road in 5 weeks .

CHRIS - to be honest, the cuts arent really from doing the matrix, just the hissy fits or the thing not working and me ripping my hands out of tight spots   :embarassed:

Not 100% sure its that Dave. but the only way to tell is to change it, then get the car run up to temp, bled etc.

Then i will see. spooky how the Stat, the Matrix and the expansion tank all go pete tong together, unless the stat failing took out the tank and the matrix  :undecided:

could be dodgy wiring to the header tank, have a good look at it!

but but jumping the connector ( which is clean etc )  it cures the fault - wires look ok and i wiggled them and the fault stayed gone.

could the fact the stat was stuck closed cause the float to go tits up ?????

yeah, but you said you tried this before and it didnt fix it, hence slightly dodgy wiring ;)
