Title: Our GTIs really are good you know.
Post by: Egbutt Wash on 25 September 2008, 13:30
I was considering an Evo X with the Mitsubishi style DSG as the replacement for my GTI in a year or so.
After a test drive yesterday with the local dealer in Carnforth I was keen.  The car was nippy and grippy as expected and I was tempted.

Later I had to transport a new TV home.  In the Golf, no problem, but if I owned the Evo it would be.  The same goes for all the other stuff I carry, outboard motors, fishing rods, dog.

So no thanks Mitsubishi I'll stick with an allrounder.

Now when are Honda going to bring out that Civic Type R hybrid in 5 door? I could be tempted.

....

Exactly why I decided not to further check out the new Evo X - Great bit of kit straight out of the box but not such a good allrounder as the GTI.

So, would you share your test drive thoughts after driving the Evo X in comparison with the GTI, Egbert? :afro:

Isn't the new revamped version of Egbert a lot nicer to have on the forum? Who'd have thought it eh?

Not to mention the fact that you need to take out a seperate loan to put petrol in an Evo X and get it serviced every 200 miles.
