I really like it
-
Much better than the mk5 IMO
-
That looks lush.. not keen on the back of them really though but ah well  Look forward to seeing clarkson giving it a hammering on top gear sometime soon then!
-
not bad. I don't like the rear lights either - bit naff and the dash looks a bit plasticy too. Nice detail on the front lights.
Where's the passenger side mirror gone (noting it's LHD) off that Mk1 off the Autoexpress pictures? And you'd think they'd clean the Mk1's sills properly before a photoshoot
-
Thats look alot better than i thought it would. I like it!

Looks awesome and subtle IMO. I can only dream of the day I can afford a MKVI GTi... or even a MKV... but the MKII 8v does the job for now :smug:

-
Looks excellent. Extra 10bhp from the mk5, apparently it's better in the corners, and had twin exhausts!! :)
-
love the front, not sure on the rear but still much better than the mk5, might keep the astra for a year and trade in, would like the R if its comes out, cheap S3 a like
-
very nice!
-
saw it the other day in autoexpress (get it delivered) miles better than the mk 5, i love it
-
looks like any other new car imo.... got an audi thing going on imo.... boring
-
I'd have one! (But someone will have to buy it for me...)
-
Yum yum.
Hope it gets some new alloys though.
-
Nothing special, a blatent mix of the new Rocco and a mk5, boring would have a mk5 over that, anyday.
-
Anyone else think it looks like the W12?
-
looks great in my opinion. Looks like a toned down version of the GTI 650 (W12)
the front looks good especially.
-
Anyone else think it looks like the W12?
Its white. And its a Golf. Thats about it.
-
Who ll be the first to swap the panels, change a mk5 into a mk6
-
Much better than the mk5 IMO
37 hours to build a mk5
22 hours to build a mk6
yes that sounds like a quality product
-
Efficiency. Working those robots harder
-
I like it a lot. I'm on a Megane forum with my 225 and they think it's a bit ghey, but it looks classy to me  Not sure about the retro seats, a bit much imo, but the rest of the interior looks lovely.

What the hell has that got to do with quality???
-
he is prob a bit pissed that his mk 5 is soon to be a " old model "
and as for people on a megan forum saying it looks gay, WTF  , how can anyone say that compaired to a extremly gay/hairdressers looking car like a megan??
P.s no offence to any megan owners
-
Offence taken - I'm shakin my ass as we speak   :nerd:
The current shape is very marmite, I happen to love it. I've not bothered to post the link to the forum here as there are a few people who beleive their car is the best and that is it. Generally, it's quite an open forum, Focus ST's and Leon's are treated quite well. Think there is a bit of jealousy with the MK6, it's a lovely looking package, let's hope it goes as well as it needs to.

a bit gay, coming from a French orientated forum...the irony
-
^ Get your point, have you driven an RS Megane though  it is fantastic.
Anyway - back to the Golf :lipsrsealed: I looked at pics of the scirocco again after the golf, and I think I like the golf more!!

erh, nooooo, im happy with my Lovelly Red Edition30 thankyou , why would i want something alot slower??
-
TBH it doesn't look as nice as the MKV.
MKV GTI looks 'mature' in comparison and you can definitely tell what clarkson was on about when he said you could do the school run and then scream home like a rally driver and then later pickup a chest of draws.
WRT styling, not a fan of the narrow grille below the bonnet. The vertical foglights -guess they'll grow on me. I do like the back of it and the rear lights. Love the chunky buttons on the steering wheel, as well as the steering wheel itself.
It's just the front end I hate!

gonna be faster aint it?, supposed to be fastest GTI yet??
then theirs the even faster one they are releasing at a later date too, cant remember its name..

No the edition 30 has 30 bhp more then the current standard Mk5. New mk6 will have 210bhp instead of 197. Edition 30 is 227 standard, with a faster 0-60 sprint by almost half a second
Yes your thinking of the GTi-R coming in another year or so, same engine and turbo as the current ed30 or pirelli.

and then they'll probably be a 35 year anniversary edition with more BHP and that will be faster than the ED30
and then there'll be the MKVII and so on................................
-
no i thought (and read) the GTI had 220 (the new one) and the R type one or T type or whatever they are gonna call it will be closer to 300 bhp mark...to try and give the forthcoming and imense Focus RS  a run for its money
Defo read the new GTI will be the fastest GTI yet...i dunno? just saying what iv read/heard sure your right :lipsrsealed:

Quoted from auto express in post1 of this very thread.....
The newcomer uses a development of the current GTI’s 2.0-litre four-cylinder TSI engine, producing 207bhp. This is mated to a six-speed manual or six-speed DSG twin-clutch box, also from the existing car. The extra 10bhp is a result of tweaks to the induction system – which mean peak torque arrives at lower revs and CO2 emissions are cut by 10g/km to 178g/km.
Despite the mild increase in power, the 0-62mph sprint time remains unchanged, at 7.2 seconds, while top speed creeps up by 2mph to 148mph. The GTI should be even sharper in corners, too. The Adaptive Chassis Control system, seen on the new Scirocco, allows drivers to switch suspension and throttle settings between comfort, normal and sport modes. Plus, there’s a new XDS electronic limited slip differential to improve traction out of bends. It’s a far cry from the 107bhp 1.6-litre engine and four-speed gearbox in the MkI GTI!
But with a car like this, style has to be high on the agenda. And designers have beefed up the model in true GTI fashion.
The new front bumper houses vertical foglights set further apart than the headlamps, to create a wide and low stance. And the one-piece headlight and VW badge design pay homage to the MkI GTI. Follow the sculpted side skirts to the rear of the car, and this range-topping Golf clearly means business. A prominent roof spoiler, large rear diffuser and all-new twin exhaust – all of which are exclusive to the GTI – announce the car’s potential.
Completing the aggressive styling are polished 18-inch alloys, painted piano black on the inside – an optical illusion which VW says makes them appear half-an-inch larger.
Inside, there’s trademark tartan trim, plus a sporty flat-bottomed steering wheel.
The MkVI GTI will make its world debut at the Paris Motor Show in October, and go on sale in the UK in the summer. Prices are expected to start at £21,550 – which represents a £700 premium over the outgoing car. And if 207bhp isn’t enough for you, VW has confirmed a high-performance Golf R is also on the way.

The sixth-generation GTI has some big boots to fill – as the legendary MkI invented the hot hatch. It’s also the model designer Marc Lichter cites as the main inspiration for the latest GTI. The way the headlights are connected to the striped upper grille and chrome VW badge is an idea lifted from 1977’s original.
Inside, the unique tartan cloth trim has survived six generations of design. But the mechanical differences are enormous. The car has 99bhp more than the MkI, while the proven chassis from the MkV and advanced suspension should make it the best-handling GTI ever!

Edition 30 has 227bhp, so how can 207bhp be faster then a 230+ Horsepower Anniversary model. ( Just like the Mk4 anni) More powerful??
The GTi-R is rumoured to have around 270bhp based on the audi S3 ( same Engine as Ed30 but Slightly More tuned and 4 wheel drive)
Hope this Answers your question kells
The only car thats coming with 300bhp is the Focus RS
-
i think Kells was actually referring it to the standard GTI  and not your 'special
limited edition' ED30

Rhyso, put him back, he is only a Tiddler,

No because it was prooved to be a very popular seller so they made 700 more then the planned 1500. Both pirelli and ed30 are still effectively limited editions.
Or shall we say , was more popular then a"less Powerful" diesel Mk 4 Rich
