Title: 8v will not start!!!
Post by: dub268 on 24 September 2008, 16:32
I'm having problem getting my 8v to start, when key is turned in ignition there are no warning lights appear ie oil, battery and parked light, fuel pump don't prime but the engine will turn over, all electrics ie lights, radio etc work but windows/mirrors don't work, Ive so far replaced ignition switch, all relays, fuse and now Ive just replaced fuse box it self and still nothing, im starting to run out of ideas as to what would cause this, someone has said to me that it could be ecu that is playing up, would this be the case??

Any suggestions at this point ill take no matter how simple or stupid lol

fuel pump don't prime
Have you not answered your own question  Either the pump, the connection to the pump, the pump relay or fuse would be the first place I'd be checking..

He has a good point there!

If this dont work.. can you bump start the car? If you can then it sounds like a similar problemo to what i had. Basically the earth cable was shagged from the negative terminal on battery to an earthing point on the engine. If this is the case then get a jump lead and put the negative cable on the jump lead on the negative battery terminal then the other end onto some sort of earthing point on the engine/gearbox/alternator etc and then try turning the key.

Good luck hope you get it sorted mate!

i forgot to say that there is no spark either and that when i use to get the the three warning lights the car will fire up no problem, so it seams that only when and if i do get warning lights the car will start,

@veedub...never thought to try that......bump start will not not work either, tried the jump lead and still no joy

@mrturner...ive connected fuel pump to its own direct feed and it primed
