stay all the way!!! if you dont like it.......dont read it, simple
-
I personally think its funny especially as it winds Newgolf up so much, but imho i think it should just be a normal thread not a sticky. For me seeing as a sticky makes it seem like the majority of people on here do lots of racing.
But i also agree with Joe the least rules in here the more variety you get. Just my 2 peneth. :undecided:

This only for a laugh matey, should get some interesting responses hopefully!
You are right though, its not exactly hard to guess what things are in with the amount of pages and the title

TC it doesn't wind me up mate, I just feel that its not in the "VW Spirit" if you know what I mean. Watch this advert and hopefully you will understand.

It's all a bit schoolboy boasting, and you should read what the other forums think about it...
One way you could analyse it is like this. (Only) Some of you guys sound like you are saying - "I have a car thats highly modified, very light and has a better power to weight ratio than yours. Big turbo and 2 WD. I'll pull up along side you and hammer the cr@p outta my car and leave you behind (hopefully, unless you come across the likes of a P1 Subaru ) then post that my cars faster and better than your car. It all sounds a little overly boastful to the point of becoming childish. "Mines bigger/better/faster than yours naa naa naa"
The other way you could look at it is like this. I, and some of the guys that you post you've "beaten", don't want to hammer their car driving to or from work, nor get points on their license or banned as they may need it for their jobs, family etc. They could also be like me and lost a very close friend in a high speed crash and not want to risk it. (An ex GF of mine, aged 18 died in a terrible car crash, driving far to fast in the wet). These guys with an RS4 etc can easily afford an ED30, stick a wopping great turbo on it plus extras and "Muller" yours if they wanted to, why don't they, because they dont feel the need to I suppose. If I had some "dude" come up behind me and drive like a loonie right up my rear bumper (getting lots of stone chips all over his car, by the way) then overtake me like a tw@t, I'd let him get ahead as far as possible. Chances are you'll see him on one of those Police car shows someday. Hopefully not.

I know exactly what you mean, this is in the same spirit

I'm guilty of 'testing' my cars abilitys against others from time to time but I'm also well aware that for the money I spent on it I could have bought a much more powerful car. Certainly its fast but there are many other cars on the road that will give the GTI a bloody nose but thats not what I bought it for. It is that understated image I like about VW's and that is probably a reflection of my own personality so driving like a hooligan doesn't really appeal to me (but I do like to surprise people occasionally ).
That said I don't think the thread does anyone any harm (touch wood) but I agree its not in the spirit of VW!

That advert is totally what I am on about.
Great find ub7rm
-
Stay, but be renamed something a bit less 'CHAVVY' maybe?
-
Have to remember people that the golf gti is a hot hatch... so without doubt that puts it in a category of cars that most people buy because they want performance as well as practicality!
Unfortunately you cant measure practicality but performance you can.. and that seems to be the way people say their taste or car is better than some elses!
Its a fact... you just have to learn to ignor them (or give them an a$$ whooping they wont forget )
-
just a big gaylord brag-fest isn't it
may as well get your c*cks out and see who's got the biggest and girthiest.

NO need!!!
That would be me

Think it should be renamed 'GTI Competition' or something similar... What do you guys think?
-
....
I agree with NewGolf on this one.
I do like this VW advert though : - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=yUGNM0OcyBI (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=yUGNM0OcyBI)
Should be a normal thread and not a Sticky - Puts out the wrong image for this web site as a Sticky.
-
What about calling it the (http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm104/tomashandmilly/pinocchio.png) and Newgolf and RR could be Jiminy cricket.
-
Rename it if it makes everyone happy.
-
I just think 'What have you beat in your GTI?' sounds a bit 17 year old Saxoesque IMO..
Rename, rename, rename!!!
-
Rename it if it makes everyone happy.
....Renaming it would go a long way to salvage the community's image.
We need a Rename option in the voting but can we vote twice?

Start a pole with a few front runners the mods cant refuse then.

only the mods can i think

1- Fastest street lap
2- how did you get behind me.
3- eat my dust.
4- i must be lewis hamilton.
5- well driven :smug:
6- I must have past my driver awareness course.
7- simply out classed.
A couple of suggestions :undecided:
Simply out classed sounds quite neutral and politically correct.
-
Or how about "Today on the roads of........" :undecided:
-
....
Simply Outclassed
gets my vote :afro: [< that's the correct spelling by the way]
-
Simple Outcast
How about:-
1. Get out of my way I'm coming through
2. Shot my load again..
3. If only I'd gone to wrecksavers.
4. The names Gonad....James Gonad
5. Did you say MPH or KPH?
Really though. I love the thread just the way it is
-
No bin it - it means nothing other than someone else's subjective opinion as to whether they have bigger balls (or the female equivalent and I won't go there ) as to what they thought they were doing at a certain time/date on a certain road, listening to a certain CD in a certain gear and in a certain frame of mind. Means AFA to anyone other than that certain individual
However Spurs won at Newcastle tonight and that means a certain plus for me
Cass
-
Agree with Hurdy there. Whats wrong with leaving it the way it is??
Also agree with some of Cass's comment there too. But the point is that this is the net and we should all be able to post our opinions about whatever we wish, regardless of wheather they are correct or not. Yes it sometimes is a 'who can pi$$ highest competition' but really shouldnt those who wish to discuss their experiences on the road be left to do it as they see fit??
No one is forcing you to read a thread or comment on how people choose to drive. Does changing the name of the thread really change the way people choose to drive their cars??
If your not currently educated on road etiquette, then i dont think changing a name or deleting a thread will have the desired effect
-
This is gettting verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry boring now. Just seems like the same stuff is being said over and over again.
The poll says keep it. Most have now settled on renaming it. Lets decide what to rename it and voila! Job done.
-
agree'd. The poll means it stays.
No point continuing thread about another thread thats in use
