Title: What do I do...what do I do.....all your help is greatly needed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Post by: WhiteGTI on 23 September 2008, 18:39
Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Went to look at the new APR RSC exhaust today, and was very very very impressed. Quality was superb, no drone at all, and the sound when pushing on was lovely - a nice little rasp, quite high pitched and not too loud for anyone to think it was chavvy. So...all in all a very nice product.

However, with a cost of around £1200 - it seems maybe a little bit too much money.

These are my options, could you please tell me what you think is a better choice?

Option 1

Revo Stage 1
Forge DV
APR RSC

Option 2

Revo Stage 1
Forge DV
R32 rear bumper (with lower valance obviously)
Miltek cat-back non-resonated R32 exit style
Eibach sportline springs (or Bilstein/Koni/Apax/etc etc etc etc equivelant - I havent fully researched this aspect yet, but the remaining funds would allow for a spring purchase)

Option 3

Revo Stage 1
Forge DV
R32 rear bumper (with lower valance obviously)
Miltek turbo-back exhaust

My questions are:

1)  Which of the above options should I choose?
2)  How loud (and effective) is a Miltek cat-back non-res. Without the downpipe etc does it actually make a difference in noise over the standard system? Is it worth it stand alone? The only reason I would choose this is because I like the R32 exit and the APR system do not give me an option to link to an R32 bumper.
3)  Is the Miltek turbo back noise quite boring? Like, I mean the APR had real character, i dont just want a louder version of the stock system.

Many thanks for your help, I appreciate it so much

Chris.

....Bottom line is that only you can decide!

Non-Res Milltek is just right imo - I find the APR a bit harsh and higher pitched, but it's very subjective and you may prefer the APR sound.

If you plan to remap you MUST get a High-flow+Downpipe to reap the full benefits.

No, I don't find the Milltek sound boring at all.

Bilsteins are excellent but cost you loads - Probably not worth it unless you do lots of trackdays.

I've forgotten - Are you going to the JKM rolling road meet on Oct 4th? (I'll be there with my very mature Milltek)

Yep will be there at the JKM RR day.

Is there much difference in noise between a Miltek non res cat back and a non-res turbo back? I.E. does the downpipe and sport cat make much difference on the noise of a non-res?

Wish I was going to be there at the RR day but too far for me!
would be good to hear the various exhasts both res and non in various state of tune, would certainly help to make an educated decision on which to get.
