Title: Guys in E30 with over 300bhp...
Post by: Peskarik on 23 September 2008, 14:13
... I don't know how you keep your license.

I did Oettinger Stage 1 today, and I think I already lost my license.  :lipsrsealed:
While base E30 was a little reluctant to gather speed in 4-6th gears, now there is no end to acceleration. Sublime experience.
The process is so civilized and so quick though that speed limits are reached in a blink of an eye.

Well worth the money I paid. Now I wonder if I will be able to enjoy it.  :lipsrsealed:

P.S. Did you read about the new Audi S4? That promises to be quite a nice piece of machinery. Will take in into consideration for next car. I wonder what BMW will do with the next generation of 335i.

I know what you mean Peskarik, there absolute animals once remapped and if you add a few more bits they become ridiculous!!! I took a buisness partner of my dad's out in mine yesterday, he has experience of driving many high performance cars. He was absolutely speechless!! I often look in disbelief at my speedo when acclerating, its crazy!! To get performance on par with a mapped ED30 £40K plus has to be spent!

I was trying to pass a Lexus jeep that was slowly overtaking big long trucks. Once Lexus made it into right lane (I am on continent), I floored it. I don't remember what the speedo showed, but I saw a flash. That was on 120 kmh-limit highway.  :embarassed:

Just my luck.

Judging by my run-of-the-mill E30 Stage 1, Oettinger Stage 2 (330hp/460Nm) must be an absolute animal!

When you get it, try to contain your excitement in the beginning. And watch your speedo. These are my advice for you.

I don't think ladies would climb a 30-feet tall poll in the middle of highway...

overtaking is sssooooo easy in a mapped ED30

I bet you were as pleased as punch until the flash.

I used to overtake 1 or 2 cars at the most when the car was standard, now just about any number is fair game, 2 and a lorry? ..easy peasy!.....2lorries and a van?..no problem! 4 cars, a van and a coach in one go is my limit on a single carriageway though

I'm sure I don't need more power.....err....yet!

4WD would be nice though :lipsrsealed:

overtaking is like walking on the clouds now, effortless
I was very happy, now I think I am cooked goose...

I think I stay with Stage 1. It is enough for me, really.

I remember you saying over and over again that you would never mod E30  And yet it seems you have... I think the mod bug has bitten. Redrobin please post up your "Jesus says modify it" pic to emphasise my predictions that it will be less than a month before pesky has another mod

Peskarik, seems like you are happy now mate.. Sod the 335i, who needs one..
Quick little buggers aren't they.. You can probably believe some of these 'make believe' racing stories now I bet.. Most people do once they have been in/driven one..

 Your prediction may be right.
This morning I was driving to work and suddenly I thought that I could use some more grunt in 6th gear above 100kmh.
I was blowing everyone of the road, but still, I could have blown them in a more savige way  :lipsrsealed:
I will NOT do any more engine tuning though. maybe sport airfilter, but no millteks or intercoolers while my car is under warranty for the next couple of years. And then I probably switch to something else.

Suspension mod is a possibility, though. But not in the next month.

To get performance on par with a mapped ED30 £40K plus has to be spent!

Not quite, there very quick but still expensive. You can go alot faster for less than the cost of the ED30 and a remap

A few examples

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/670369.htm
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/633200.htm

Most other turbo remapped cars are capable of keeping up with or being faster than a remapped edition 30. Its never fair to compare a standard car vs a modified car!
Im not saying there not very fast (my topic to find that out proved they are very quick machines!)

My ED30 covers all bases for me in what I want out of a car. It looks well, it goes really well, it's practical and it gives decent fuel economy when not being pushed. The Nissan I would not be seen dead in, sorry that is just my point of view, the second one (not sure what it is) is completely impractical and the Jag would drink more than Paul Gascoigne! Maybe I phrased my comment wrong 'For me to get everything out of a car that I want, I would have to spend 40k plus'

the same for me
Never the old ugly nissan or that bathtub. And Jag? Well, when I'm 64 (maybe)
THe other turboed cars may be nice, but nothing as interesting as GTI have I found in my search

I'd have to buy 335i or something like that if I were to choose another car.

I know what you mean! Thos were just examples, the second is a westfield; if you dont know what it is you dont know enough about cars lol They do 0-100 in 9 secs and 0-60 in a little over 3!

You can get economy, practicality and comfort in one of these that are cheaper (to own, not run!)

I am familiar with Westfield as much as a non-Brit can be, that is I've read about it and I saw some pics.
0-60 in 3? So what? Performance is not everything.
Comfort and practicality in bathtub?
How about sense of beauty and style? Nissan is out right away. Same goes for bathtub on wheels. That Jag is for old guys (I don't like the new XF either. Jags are too "British Gentleman" for me).

....Well I'm only 3 years away from being 64 and I wouldn't have a Jag!!

Those little Nissans are pocket-rockets! Extremely fast and good fun

More importantly those are all old used cars.. I think the original statement was meant to mean new cars..
