Title: MK2 Fron Seat Collapse
Post by: sdall30 on 23 September 2008, 12:44
I've got an MK2 4door 8valve GTI , there are 2 controls at the front of the seat on the drivers side, 1 does the forward/backward adjustment and I belive the other adjusts the height of the base , however , when ever I pull the lever on the left (base height adjustment) the front left hand side of the seat plummets towards the floor and the righthand side stays put ????

Any help on how to resolve this would be  wonderfull , thanks in advance

There's a toothed lever on either side of the seat that moves outward when the handle is moved, it might be that a spring has broken that pulls it back in place.

It may be the spring rod that goes through the lower part on the guides, is faulty/broken from the spot weld to the upper section.

Should be easy to get just a base and swap foam and cloth over though.
