ok folks i got a problem i been waiting for my logbook for the polo for about 4-5weeks now.
i got sick of waiting so I phoned the dvla to see where it is
they have not recieved it as i gave them my registration number
and the guy i bought it off has emergrated somewhere
they said i need to register the car myself and all i have is a little slip that rips off bottom of the logbook which takes roughly 6weeks
but my car tax runs out end of this month and i never really understood what the dvla were on about
can anyone help?
-
im pretty sure u can use that tear off slip to get tax. it should b signed by the last owner and have ur addy on it :)
-
and forge the f**kker! :D :D :D :D
-
the slip has none of his details on it or mine but wont he get the tax fine if i dont get the log book
the slip is green with a red part below it
-
yeh u dont need the red bit thats for traders. just write ur address in the spaces and forge last owners signature. ;)
wham bam thank u mam and tax is on the car 8)
-
I duno if HPI checks on cars give full details of address's etc.
Could you not do a HPI check???
-
wham bam thank u mam and tax is on the car 8)
LOL u crack me up
-
When you got the car you should have filled the top section out, Blue section, that is the section that should have been sent to the DVLA to inform them of any Owner changes, the green bit is for you to keep incase you get pulled by the fuzz, as for whether you can get Tax with it I really don know ??? Nice Polo, woul be cool if the light were really green 8)
P.S, It doesnt have to be signed by the last owner...
-
i told the post office i couldnt get a sig cos the last owner had died of old age - 80 year old man, yellow car, gti lmao - i dont think so but it worked. :D
still much quicker and less hassle to forge it imo ;D
-
If he kept the blue bit and didnt send it off I think your fu**ed, see my above post
-
yeh i agree with mark 1 boy - u cant register the car with that bit, its only the last owner that can do that now. but i had no problems getting tax using the bottom slip. worth a try rob :-\

and i can register the car on my own which i am goin to see about tomorrow might wait a little while though

i am glad i can tax it though i was worrying incase of a fine!
-
Yeah its all changed now............looks like its going to cost me ?20 to register the 'tin-top' in my name because the previous owner can't be bothered to send off the docs ???
-
so if i were to do that wud i need to pay 20quid
oh yeah how do i get my sig to work properly
-
I think the DVLA are all taking a break as i waited 6 weeks for my V5. Then i rung them and they told me to fill in a V60 to reapply for the V5, its free if you have the green tear off strip, this can be used to get the tax as long as its less than 2 months old.
So i send off the form and 2 weeks later i get the V5 and all is happy. Then 2/3 weeks after that i get another V5 so now i have 2 identical ones.
It can take up to 6 weeks but i would grab the V60 from the post office and try and get a new one.
but as said before if you have the small green tear slip then you can use that to get the tax disk. Or keep phoning the dvla and get them to look into it for you.
