Title: Found the problem
Post by: tinman on 13 May 2004, 21:08
Its amazing what a fresh set of eyes on the car achieved this evening. We've known there was an air leak on the car but nothing came to light.

Got a fresh set of eyes to have a look, and within 5 minutes we found the biggest air leak you've ever heard. We think the main problem is a low vacuum going to the ECU (?) which is causing a really bad idle and uneveness to 3k rpm.

I think someone said the same hose deals with the mpg on the MFA?

Tomorrow a mate is taking the hose off the car and checking it through and replacing the bad bit.

So, hopefully tomorrow night, we'll have a test drive and see what happens.

Heres hoping.

on the k-jet engine there's a small vacume hose that goes from the inlet manifold to the dials. has nothign to do with the idle though. but that's on the k-jet and you must have a digi. :)

that little vacuum hose just does the mpg on the mfa but if its fallen off unmetered air csan enter the inlet manifold thru it causing bad running. if it is blocked etc then it wont effect the engine the mfa just wont work properly
