Title: is my turbo dead???

how do you tell if your turbo has done it's *ollocks? the car runs fine of turbo but give it a bit more and it dies and kicks out some smoke. if its in neutral it rev's all the way up. also i have a boost gauge that is showing hardly any boost..  :(

Don't think it's the turbo, first check that it still turns (engine off ;), by hand). Make sure the hoses to the turbo are not collapsing when the turbo starts to suck hard. (could also be a dead maf sensor :()
