I'm in the process of removing the wing, I have all the bolts removed, arch off etc.
The bit im having trouble with is the lip that runs along the door line...it seems to be glued...is it still possible to remove the wing?
Its an 1989 Gti 8v if that makes a difference.
Thanks

That's the factory sealant that sticks like sh!t to a blanket even after all these years.
You could try getting a heatgun in there to soften it all up or a stanley knife with a fresh blade and slice the sealant along the edge of the wing. If you just try and rip the wing off it will make a right mess as I discovered on a golf I was breaking a few years back.

The sealer is real strong!
Did you remove the two bolts from under the plastic inner arch cover?

under all that glue stuff you will find 2 bolts. I used a srew driver to prise it away to get at the bolts.

its a digging mission through the sealer to find them bolts mate! just jet a screw driver and start now, you should have em out be christmas!
