....Excellent vid, Neil - Very good choice of camera position and rock steady. Your style looks very smooth and steady and you don't get the sensation of the speed you were doing (140 mph mentioned).
How did you find the paddle extensions with gloves on?
I'll be at VW Racing next week at last! That white Scirocco will probably be there.

Always a little disappointing watching it back, it never looks as fast, coming out of the right hander Woodcote Corner onto the start/finish at about 100mph drifting towards 8ft of grass then a brick wall, you have to be there really (always pack spare underwear).
Paddles are good but as you say the lower inch or so not as good as the upper section but tape is holding well.
Was chatting to the lads from VW racing, they have worked on 2 of my friends Gti's, Phil and Simon (also in a wheelchair) prepairing them for a race series, they also had a rather nice front bumper/grill set up on a red gti from USA (bunny or rabbit something or other)
Not always that smooth, 1st lap out - cold tryes - etc etc etc

At the start of the day I was using the brake at the end just lifting a bit, you've got to have faith in that camber.

Hope the weather holds up for you, had a few spots of rain but nothing to worry about. Its ment to be really slippery when wet there.

Would be cool to get a small camera mounted facing the speedo and revometre. Then overlap it in the bottom corner of the video that way you can see your speed on every corner also you know if you are improving the next time around.

Yeh, looking at it now I think I may have had something in my eye, it was getting smaller in the rear view mirror as well.

....I don't quite understand how an "advance drivers course" is done on a race circuit, not the road, and in a car/cars other than your own. Isn't it a track training course, and why not in your car?
Having said that, of course it'll be a wonderful day driving those cars with tuition around Silverstone.

If it is the Audi Driving Experience, then whilst it doesn't teach you roadcraft, it does teach you very valid techniques on certain systems on the car, such as ABS/ESP - and these can then be applied to road car useage.

Can I ask how much that costs, would be ace to do that :D never had my car on the track but would love some training before hand.

Yeah, it was that Audi Driving Experience TT. It was puka ! :D Had a brilliant time. That RS4 is just WOW !!
It was also my first time of driving a DSG car in the form of the TT and was very impressed although having never even driven an auto it took some getting used to. Would loved to have spent more time in it to get used to it (found my self lifting off to change gear and press a clutch that wasn't there lol doh).
It was actually on the Stowe circuit as aposed to Silverstone as the 24 hour race was on that weekend (anyone remember the TG guys taking the derv Bimmer? Same event) so managed to sneak in a half hour in the morning with a tea and bacon bap watching that (there was a diesel MK4 going around btw, no idea how he finished up).
RR, I agree totally and would love have done everything I did in a GTI as the Audi Quattro system is obviously going to handle different to my Golf but it was a surprise 21st bday present, my parents aren't as anal as us lol :D. TT you are spot on with the comment of ABS and ESP, all very useful information. We also did a scenario on understeer (the pros out there will know that you need to steer back into the corner, the opposite way to the way you want to go, to get traction back in the tyres, all massively beneficial to us FWD drivers).
ED30, it was £500, but you spent pretty much ALL day in the cars (0830 - 16:15) apart from a 45 minute lunch. The instructors and also flown in from Audi Germany and if you think TT knows his stuff, they would put him to shame (sorry TT ) they where also top guys and a real good laugh, for Germans ;). Plus the lady that organises it, cant remember he name now, was hunny ;) lol

That RS4 looks immense. If only I could afford one
I know if I drove one I would be doing everything possible to get one
Dont think insurers would take too kindly to a 22 year old.
