Title: Fuel gauge reading wrong (fixed it!)
Post by: MrTurner on 18 September 2008, 20:40
I'm confussed by this one..  The fuel gauge was showing 1/4 tank, so I went and put £30 in.  I'd expect that to be about half a tank in today's climate?

Got back in, started it up, still 1/4 tank?  I've read the sender is attached to the pump (usually in the boot), and can pack up, but I would have thought the gauge would show 0?  I've given the dash and the clocks a bit of a whack and it won't budge.  Thought about fuses/relays, but again, thought that would show 0 on the gauge?

Over to the experts....  Anyone?

Argh - fixed it  :lipsrsealed:

I've spent about 2 hours fvcking about with it.  As I've had the gearbox off, the speedo sensor seems to have confussed itself.  So, a simple 'press trip and hold while starting the car' fixed it.  Happy days...

Which button is that then?

The one on the left, by the miles, the one that gives you the trip reading?
