basically i need to know what this part is there all the pipes are connecting to, its split somewhere and is leaking water

The vw term is "flange". They tend to be plastic and get brittle with age, there is also a sealing ring behind it which will need replacing.
The vw parts dept will be able to order the right one from your reg plate, tell them its the water flange at the front of the engine.
From memory mine was about £15 including the seal.

plastic!?!?! mines defo metal, not trying to call u a liar or anything lol, just want to get the right bit :smiley: ...ill take it to my mechanic tomorow anywho and let him have a good old look

I did say tend to be plastic, the ones on my 16v are plastic.
Could be as simple as a good clean up and a new gasket required if the flange is metal.
