After reading this months Golf+ mag I was quite interested in the giving the mk1 engine more "humph" article, where it said what you could do to the engine on three different budgets, but this then got me asking myself some questions about my engine. Can someone answer me the following questions please, I drive a J reg (91) mk1 Rivage cab 1800 -
1) Which engine am I likely to have, k-jet mk1, digifant mk2 8v or something else ?
2) How can I tell ?
3) I think it said that it's not advisable to put an induction kit on, if its not too much of a nugget question, can someone tell me exactly what it means by induction kit ?
I may have a few more questions at some point but answers to the above will do me for now. Thanks. :)

if u have braided hoses coming off the airbox it's a K-jet.
drill the airbox ;)

Drill the airbox where and how many holes?? What size hole??Does it really make a difference??

1. All cabs are fitted with K-jet

3. An induction kit is a cone filter that mates with the air intake pipe into the throttle body, so no airbox needed, there is only one kit available for k-jet(induction kit) , can't remember who did it.
Normal induction kits won't work as the fuel metering unit and air flow meter are part of the top of the air box on k-jets.
Buy a panel filter and drill the front/wing side of the air box NOT the engine side.
