Title: Damp in foot well??

Hey all, noticed a strange smell the other day so though i'd vac the car and found drivers footwell carpet damp. Ripped it all out and the soundproof sponge was sodden an a little in the passengers.
Any one know where it could come from. Its a 3 door with no aircon. Water levels haven't dropped so don't think its the heater matrix. I've siliconed around the gromits in the floor, hopefully iwill work.
