As above, I cant decide on which wheel to have for the winter time to save my Monza II's. Im leaning towards the 'Flux' as i wont need to buy new tyres. Any suggestions are more than welcome

Sorry Cookie, can't sell them they are the DNA of my car!! New wheels are for the winter!
Wheel Man, what colour is your car mate?
-
The top ones, with the red lip. Can't beet a set of nice red lips! :embarassed:
-
....Of the two I much prefer the first and don't like the second - Too fussy and a bit chavvy in appearance.
I'm visiting Pristine tomorrow to inspect their wheel finishes. I'm fed up with the white worm issues on the Diamond-Cut Monza 18's but don't agree with losing the GTI's distinctive Monza design style, so they'll be stripped and refurb'd and powder-coated.

I reckon Spit and Polish would be your better option - there was an article in one of the car mags a few years back on how they were supposedly the best at refurbing the Monza IIs - all back to OEM-spec finish.
-
im no ooooooooooooverly into black wheels, however those do look good, as do huffs...
I think the key is in getting decent centre caps?!
-
No worries on the Hijack!!!!!
My car is Black and the actual wheels are more of a satin finish and not the glossy style pictured. Im glad that you all like the top ones as i was definatly swaying towards these (18x8 ET40) I was only thinking abou the other wheel as i did quite fancy 19"...............
Well the usual price of these is £608 for the set but i do get a special price

I have used Pristine loads in the past (although not for Monza's) and i would rate their work highly. they put a real thick layre of laquer on the polished surfaces, its so thick that you can see it!!. Cant comment on Spit and Polish though..............

....The main reason I'm checking out Pristine is that I'm in the area anyway visiting Revo and TTSroadsport. VWR for Quaife now next week but with a "play at Bruntingthorpe" promised afterwards.
I've been told (not by Pristine) that VW use them for warranty Monza refurbs, and also by others that they are the best in the trade. But I'm definitely not going back to OEM-spec finish anyway - As I wrote in my previous post.
But thanks for your input - Appreciated anyway.

....As a wheel man who has used Pristine loads, your recommendation is valuable - Thanks :afro:
Were you at Castle Combe a few weeks ago (I've forgotten which event)? - I bought the last of a red BBS baseball cap design from you, so will have met you briefly.

Firstly on thread, of the two designs I think the top one is best BUT as they're winter wheels you really ought to be looking for something easy to clean as it's not pleasant spending 3 months sat in puddles for hours on end scrubbing multi-spoke wheels. Been there done that and nearly got the piles to prove it
Getting hold of some cheap 17'' Monzas would be my option (easy to clean and OEM, can be fitted with spacers to fill the arches a bit) and getting them finished in dark grey or black. Just my humble opinion and something I'm considering doing to my car this winter, funds permitting, to save my BBSs.
@ Robin, I had a set of Monza IIs re-furbed a couple of years ago by Pristine. The wheels were finished to a pretty high quality and I still see my old car about and they still look pretty okay (keep in mind here the car is now mostly driven by a young female LOL).
The finish was quite different to OEM though, the diamond cutting was more obvious and the grey was slightly darker.
The diamond cut looked more like grooves and reflected the light really well so I was quite happy but you couldn't have gotten away with just one wheel done for example, you'd have had to do the whole set.
Having said all this it was a couple of years ago now almost so they may have changed their spec.
Thumbs up from me to them though.

I wasn't trying to doubt the abilities of Pristine, which I know have an excellent reputation - but just adding another recommendation, which would be handy for those living down south!
And regarding the "best in the trade" comment - well that can be applied to Spit and Polish, or Lepsons too. No different to some who think Audi are best, others think Merc are the best, and the sad few who think BMW are the best. At the end of the day, they all do a very highly regarded, first class job, and by using any of the three compainies mentioned, you won't be disapointed.

Interesting, because you don't get those adverse comments from Spit and Polish!

....Thanks but both Spit n Polish and Lepsons (who I know have good reputations) are much more awkward to reach from my neck of the woods than Pristine who are also near friends I like to visit anyway.
I'll zip my lip on responding on your "sad few" BMW comment - You surprise me. And I don't think that anyone is "the best" car manufacturer, though a 1947 Hooper Rolls did impress me on Sunday!
On the subject of Winter wheels, they don't come any easier to clean than the Monzas. I've still got my Monza 17's but can't be arsed to change for the seasons - Just when does Winter begin and end in the UK?

I have been thinking about the cleaning of these wheels and have convimced myself that in the winter the car is just about always dirst so it wount look too bad on black wheels :embarassed: In a perfect world i would get some used 18" monza's and get them done in black at pristine (or Spin n polish ) but like i said i will be getting these at a very special price
Anyone got skills on Photoshop that fancies putting some on a black 5 door could earn themselfs a beer

I agree, the red lip looks best on white and red though.
