Hi guys, got a little problem with the electronic ignition on my 1.3 golf
got the car with the old style 1.3 engine, and recently fitted a 89 1.3 with electronic ignition.
i fitted the engine wanting to put my old distributor on but looking in it wont fit, so i would have to change the cam out of the other engine. i dont really want to do this.
i have fitted the stand alone wiring from the distributor to the coil and then to a little box under the scuttle panel.
when i go to turn the car over the first click it will sometimes spark and then when the spring pulls it back it will sometimes spark, but wont spark when turning over.
Can any help me?

1st thing to check is you get 12v to the 15 terminal pins side of the coil with the ign on, and make sure the earth to the TCI-H unit is making good contact. If this checks out make sure the coil type matches the spark wires you are using, the older ones dont have a centre pin in the hole, and wont work with new plug/coil HT leads.
