Title: ground clearance ??
Post by: orbit48 on 15 September 2008, 20:13
recently bought a magnex system for my mk2 16v from this forum (abingdon man-top bloke),  the only thing that worries me is the first silencer, the cherry bomb type is rarther large, it seems to hang down below the car.  i have measured the ground clearance and i only have 50mm, i've been avoiding speed bumps like you wouldn't believe................should i be worried or is 50mm clearance enough ? ? ?

50mm is very close to the ground mate. I would take bumps carefully and try to avoid them! My front chin spoiler is about 50mm from the ground and i scrape on alot of stuff!

Dont go in Multi storeys either mate!!

Have you got heavy duty rubber things (Its late and forgot what theyre called haha) Try and get as much support as you can I would, tight to the heat shield all the way along, so it may mean changing them all.

Ive recently just replaced the middle one with a SH*t one as I was desperate for it but Im going to invest as for £7 its worth a try and theres some reassurance its a bit thicker than an Elastic band haha

Only cable tied it on the rear bracket, the rest are small zaust hangers just turned the brackets on the car 180* to lift it up a bit
