How hard is it to take of and refit a gearbox on your own? are there any special tools needed? any advise / help is apreciated!

Not easy to do on your own.
You will need help to get the box in and out as it is quite heavy.
A clutch tool is recommended to centre the clutch, and it makes life easier to have a tool to lock the pressure plate when removing the bolts.
When removing/refitting the box, rotate the box so the diff is pointing upwards, so you won't need to move the engine to remove/refit the box.

Looks like it back in the garage again when i get paid!!! :'(

Shame that you're so many miles away mate as I've done mine that many times now that I must at least be semi-professional.
Basically you'll need a couple of you, one to hold weight from top and you under controlling location.
Here's how I did it:
Get her up in the air on some axel stands and get a trolley jack under the engine (piece of wood as not to damage the sump)
Inner driveshaft bolts removed and driveshafts moved away from gearbox - n/s had to be removed in my case due to space restrictions.
Remove gearbox housing bolts, remove front and rear (gearbox) engine mounts then whilst you are under holding the weight get your mate to split the box from the engine. Twist the gearbox so that the diff goes backwards and up past the housing case then drop it down and lead it out..... done!
Saved me ?150 labour when I had my box reconditioned. ;D
