Broke into my car last night! took my sterio and snooper but left my skateboard and CDs, f**king Thiefs!!!!
At least this time the police are being helpful and offering to finger print >:(

sorry to hear that mate, Hope there is a lesson here for everyone - never leave anything in your car, that can be removed. Hope you can get it back through your insurance.

Nope, No Insurance money, Just a smashed rear windscreen and 2 empty spaces where my favorite pieces of kit inside my car used to sit >:(

Im just pissed off because i only earn ?5000 a year as a student, With ?400 of kit gone it and my insurance gone in june i wont be able to afford to replace the snooper and head unit untill september at least, There goes the plans for the GTI right out the window :'(

Sorry to hear that your pride and joy has been attacked mate, its truly gutting when it happens - I know from personal experience, as I've had several of my cars done in the past, ranging from nothing gone (but plenty of damage) to a full-on Alpine install go.
All I can suggest is to spend any and all available money on security rather than other mods, until you're satisfied that your car is suitably protected from the opportunist thief, and until then don't leave anything in the car - I've had a window smashed before so some kids could nick probably no more than a tenners worth of change from the ash tray, so a radar detector and stereo are going to seem like a kings ransom compared to that!
Get it belled up as soon as possible!

Yeah that was me who had there door handles busted into twice before in break ins, Its just a pain in the ass because i live in a nice area with a ghetto next to it >:(
Me and some mates are going down the local pub later on tonight, Im going to go in and ask if anyone has a car sterio for sale, I spray painted somthing on mine so its not hard to destinguish, If i see anyone there with it im going to ask them to step outside with me so me and a few friends can have words >:(

Guttrd - know how it feels too: Had mine swiped this time last year... I think the thieves go on a last-second spree before there's too much daylight and everybody starts sleeping with their windows open. Insurance unlikely to pay for anywhere near the value of the kit and scarcely worth trashing yor premium for it.
Here's a couple of tips (nothing quite like closing the gate after the horse has bolted), based on painful experience from myself and a couple of mates.
(1) Never EVER leave the front-face in the car (even in a locked glove-box), chances are the person gonna break into the car saw you park (and probably heard you pull up), so they'll probably be able to see you stashing it in the glove-box / boot / under a seat. If ever in any doubt abotu the area I'm parking in, I make a point of havig mine visibly in my hand as I walk off.
(2) Never EVER EVER EVER carry out your new boot-builds / speaker installs / head unit replacements directly in front of you house / where you regularly park your car unattended. Thieves could just be strolling past and see the boxes and then know if it's worth breaking into your car for. My friend got SO stung with that - the b@stards had his new shelf and boot build out about 2 hours after he put it in... and they were off down the stret before he even realised it was his alarm going off.
(3) Even bolting down amps doesn't help - grind off the bolts if necessary - no thief it gonna drill out bolts at 4am, but you can later...
(4) Stock/plain speaker covers over your top of the range speakers won't advertise the fact that you've got ?300-?500 worth of speaker in each door / >?1000 on your back shelf. Think subtle.
Any more tips? Let's try to get something constructive out of all this.

Hire a Ex Alquieda Sniper to sit on your roof with a rifel pointing down at you car >:( Its annoying because USALLY i always take the face plate off, But i forgot last night, And my snooper is less than a month old AND a early birthday pressie from my mum :'(

Gutted for you mate. I hate car thieves, they are normally junkies trying to get a quick fix. When I go to the office once a month we stay at the Travelodge in Gants Hill. Cars are always getting broken into and I sh1t myself everytime my Golf is there. My colleage had his SAAB 9000 done the last time along with a 3 series. Thats why I have bought a very old audi 100 to use for that one day. Sad that we have to take these measures to stop scum touching our pride and joy!
I will be (in a few months) getting fitted some reinforment film for my windows. The whole car will cost ?450 (front, rear and back) and there is no way a thief can break in through a window. These are the guys that do it in case anyone wants to sort out group buy.

cool! I was thinking of tinting my windows anyway. Might go for smoked Supa glass for extra security, to hide my bad-ass stereo that I'm planning 8)

to be honest unless the theif has done homework if you dont leave anything on show your car wont get broken in to.
the reason most cars get broken into is because the 6x9's are sticking through the parcel shelf. make a stealth shelf and dont use acoustic carpet on the top, use the original carpet. theres no noticeable sound difference and you look like you have a standard shelf ;D

Just buy one from Autoaacoustics, it only ?100 and is well worth the money. I had one in my Audi.

^^yeah but it looks like a stealth shelf, not an original vag one so the theif is gonna think, aah a stealth shelf that will have 6x9's in it.........
the carpet is very different to that on the shelf mounts on either side.
and my stealth shelf cost about ?15 quid to make and i had enough leftover carpet and wood to make another one for a mate ;D ;D

Fielder, sorry to hear about your motor :( but one obvious question to ask, aint you got an alarm installed on the motor ? If not then I'd suggest getting a decent one installed before spending anymore money on it and get one that still works if the battery is disconnected and has the microwave bubble so that it will go off if the window is smashed, also, get a decent crook lock on there too, I know that doesn't stop them breaking in but at least it will take them longer if they decide they want to nick the whole lot.
I've had the lot done to me over the years, stereos nicked, stuff nicked out that I stupidly left in the car, windows smashed and I've also had a car nicked and burnt out. You need to secure the car as much as you can mate and that's the only advice I can give. If there's nothing to nick out the car or it looks like it will take them too long to pinch the whole lot then they will move on. I know it's unfair to not be able to have your own things because you fear someone nicking them but that's the world we live in. Hope you get it all sorted out.

I dont get whats up with this world, Ever since i was 12 all i wanted was a modified car, I used to watch my dad in his corrardo racing and wanted to do it so bad.
Then when i finally hit 17 and get a licence so i can start modifing a car all people ever do is slag it off or break into it, 3 break ins in 2 months, Insurance so high i have to take out a loan from my mum to pay it, It all turned out to be a huge dissapointment and it just keeps getting worse, So worse infact that im finishing it here and now. No more mods, No more VW golf, No more waking up to find its been broken into, Im selling the CL and buying a Fiesta. End of story >:(

When someone was targeting my audio i thought to myself...DAMN I HAVE A PHAT AUDIO SYSTEM! coz they want it. 8)
are you third party or fully comp because most insurers pay an amount for sterio/posession recover on fully comp.
one other thing....go monthly on insurance payouts if you can?
ohh and i was going to say that the feds will never turn up, they are too busy eating dounuts and collecting speeding fines

in my old car the alarm went in before the ICE.. with the GTI you -HAVE- to have an alarm to be insured...

Bite the bullet Dude, and try and forget what has happened, you cant do sh!t about it now, but dont give up on the Dubs. Get yourself along to a good summer show, have a few beers with some other dubbers, and restore your faith in humanity. There are decent car lovers out there, you just got to meet up with them and get some inspiration back. Two years time you could be riding in the next big thing on the vee-dub scene.

Sorry about my outburt. Id just been bottoling it up all day and when the police came and just told me theres nothing they can do to a "boi Racer" i just lost it.
But its all worked out, I used my secrite wepon (my mother) and sent her to the CIS broker who will NOW be covering the cost of my stereo, Window (which has now been fixed) AND possibly the snooper (Which the money from will be used to fit an alarm)

It reminds me of when I had a ?800 stereo nicked out of my XR2 (Cough - 7 years ago!), the police had the same attitude then as they have now. No sympathy, just oh well, it happens......
Thats life, take it as a learning curve.............................. get that alarm installed mate, well worth it!
BTW, the glass install is Thatcham approved, so more discount on insurance! :D

i remeber when i had my system nicked out of my honda, one month from new, washed n cleaned, parked in my driveway, lovely summer night and some twit breaks into the car from the rear quater n takes the system. I was only sleep for 2 hours n when i woke up f**kin shocked, went to the police they didnt wana know, so i went to the honda dealer where i got my brand new civic from and told the geza and guess wat he said your the 8 person this week that had their civic broken into. After that installed alarm CAT1 on it, so all you hav to do is get on mate n keep it goin, Its you pride n joy ;D

The police showed up last night a finger printed, Still went much help tho, Some fat lill piggy who had finally finished scoffing donuts finally came and coverd my car in silver dust.
Im just out looking for a new sterio, Nothing fancy as im not into big systems, Just a cheap CD player for around ?50, Any one know where i can get one?

?1100 a year for car insurance cover, Then When i need to clame they offer to pay for fixing the window YAY
So then i drive, Persionally to the insurance broker to clame for my snooper and my Sony CD player (?170 for the snooper, ?120 for the CD player)
So he goes off, Speeks to his boss, comes back saying hes got me a great deal on getting my money back, So im sitting there thinking YAY i get ?290 back for loosing all my stuff,
He hands me a ?20 check and tells me my no clames bonus is gone and my premium is going up on top of that..........

Yeah i am TPFT, Which includes theft from the car, a whole ?20!!! I can use this ?20 to pay the ?1300 insurance thats due at the end of next month

Mums name, Third party, Location near london, Only car with CIS, Me as a named driver, Was ?930, But now its set to go up because ive made a clame, Luckly my sisters a loyer who deals with this sorta stuff and shes going to start making threats in the morning that i get treated fairer or theres gonna be a letter sent to the traiding standards ;D Should HOPFULLY get back at least ?200 for the snooper and the CD player....I think im gonna try praying tonight

they say send in the receipts of the goods that was in ur car so make sure u got them, but on the other hand did u pay the excess n they gave u ?20 that sh!t. I would be will piss off. But i think you can claim it under your house insurance thou. By the way is ur car standard cause your paying way to much. shop around n ring up n see how much u will pay. try www.egg.com quite cheap from internet but i am with Norwich Union

I have the reciepts for the sterio and window but not the snooper, Luckly i have some friends at halfords where i got it who are writing me up new reciepts and putting contact details so the insurance company can phone up and they can give a statment saying that they A) sold it to me B) hard wierd it to the car
Also i have the box for the snooper, and photographic evidence of the stuff in my car with the date on it, I also handed out photos of what it looked like (i spray painted the outside cover of the sterio bright red) So if any one can identifie my red sterio at a cruise they are to call me so i can come up and interegate them on where it came from...
And half way through writing this post a cleo pulled up, and 2 guys started looking at all the cars, Then saw me in the window and walked off, BUT i have the number plate right here and im in the process of giving it to the cops ;D
MAYBE its the guys who stole my sh!t! Justice could be about to be served people! watch this space!

Police came last night, Apparentally there was a chase but they ditched the car and run off, Car was stolen, Yet more finger prints for the files now, And we know what they look like.
Two men, One Tall, One Short, Of Middle Eastern origine so im asking all dubbers in my local town to keep an eye out for my stuff. I dont intend to let them get away with my sh!t! >:(
