Hi folks, first time post.I recently bought a 1992'J' Mk2 GTI 16V as a runaround while i'm waiting for delivery of a new Scirocco. Its a car i'd always wanted to own having never had one in my younger days
Anyway, glad i did as the car is a hoot to drive. It has a full stainless exhaust that 'pops' on a full rev change up,addictive stuff!Sad behaviour for a 41 yr old! For a 16 year old car it's very nice indeed, drives nice and tight.
I had only intended keeping it until Scirocco arrives, but can see myself wanting to get the old girl looking her best in the meantime.
The bumpers/mouldings look ever so slightly misaligned, probably years of bumps and knocks taken their toll.Other than that the Brilliant Black paint is generally very good.
Cut a long story short,i'd like to either try and put it straight myself and wondered what grommets etc. i'd need to arm myself with,or if anyone knows of a good bodyshop in Merseyside/North-West of England who'd undertake the job?

Bumpers are held on with 4 19mm bolts, take these out, disconnect fogs and indicators on the front and the bumper slides off, same for the rear minus electrical connectors
Arch and sill trims are riveted on, drill out the rivets and they should come off, the trims may be hiding horrors underneath though so be prepared for that. You will need a rivet gun, strong hands and a whole load of new rivets to refit the arch and sills
