Hello guys.
Continuing from another thread I figured we should perhaps create our own MK5 Calendar for 2009.
I know we are still a while from 2009 but the nothing wrong with going early and getting a really nice one.
So here is the task:
1. Post a picture that you love of your GTI. Basically give us your best shot. Please resize the pictures to a lower resolution or the thread will become really slow.
2. After the pic give us the full info the car so that if the pic is chosen we can include it in calender.
I dont mind doing this as I need something to keep me busy. And it fits in with the business I am currently running and own which deals with this sort of thing.
Photoshop is allowed. Purely because it can give images a really nice touch.
This thread will close at the end of November. We will choose the winners for each month by posting these pictures in the Chat Nonsense Section (Which gets the most attention other than the MK2 Section) and have a poll so the entire forum will be able to vote for the pics they like.
Once you have posted pics you may post more if you take some others or find another one you like.
Lets see what everyone has. And dont forget that today us 9/11 so remember those that passed away.

Good idea!
Now all I need is my GTI and I will happily contribute what is likely to be the winning photo!

-
Here is my small contribution to the world of GTi photography
This was taken after the car had its first wash. Was a lovely evening too.

Maybe we should have a vote on the best twelve images to be used for the calendar?

Hope that clears up your question :D
Need to get some good shots of mine, when we finally get a half decent day or may just end up being the only one who posts pictures of a filthy car :D
Fitted the new smoked wing mirror lenses today aswel as the originals were cracked. So its looking sweet again.
-
Great pics so far guys.
Manu- R32's are allowed. In fact any MK5 is allowed.
Stealthwolf. These pictures will be used for the calender. As stated in the original post. At the end of November we will hold a poll and the top 12 pics will be used in the calender.
Komenda. I really like the second pic of your car. May I suggest (Assuming you used Photoshop) that you do an unsharp mask (Found under the filters for blurring) on that pic? It will give it a really nice smooth finish which I think would work great with that effect. :nerd:

Don't forget guys, these pics will be used by more people than normal as they will be calendar shots and most likely downloadable, therefore you need to ask permission of the original picture taker if it isn't you AND you need to mask your reg numbers for security. :nerd:

Anyone using my shots is free to do what they like with them, I waive all my rights :-)

....Very generous, Nick - But I will be crediting you as the photographer every time I use one of your pics.
-
Out of interest do you do that on other forums to? Just wondering really if anyone else has expressed an interest in my photography.

nick
....I know I have credted you most times but may have forgotten just once or twice. I do so because, as an ex pro Art Director, I considered it the least one could do and because most pro photographers absolutely insist on a printed credit with the pic - Quite rightly imo.
I've had compliments on your pics but nothing further so far.
I'll be discussing something with you when I see you next week.
-
Wel lit's very kind of you mate and the discussion next week sounds interesting. It's gonna be a hell of a day.

cheers pal :afro: il be giving my car the full goin over this weekend and takin some shots, probs up at heysham powerstation, should give some cool backgrounds
-
I'll give you one tip for those sort's of shots. Look up the rules of thirds on the internet. DOn't place the car in the middle of the shot but to one side and towards the top or bottom depending on what's in the foreground/background. Makes it much more interesting.
Also angles, shoot cars from angles you don't usualy see them in daily life and they look even cooler. For instance from down low or up high.

Some great pics guys!
after doing quite a bit of car photography/filming over the years heres my top tips.
1) Remove the tax disc and/or parking permit
2) watch out for any foreign objects behind the car, which will look strange poking out the top (obviously these can be photoshoped these days)
3) try not to photograph on grass, simply because it can hide the wheels and distort the look
4) put the headlights on, can sometimes add to it, esp at night!
5) turning wheels at an angle can look good, if the photographic angle is right
6) try to flag hot spots on paintwork created by the sun or light sources
7) magic hour is fantastic time to photograph cars, for those that dont know, the hour in the morning when the sun is rising and the hour in the evening when its setting.
that my tuppence worth.
I'll be posting some pics soon!
