Been looking under the bonnet and noticed this...
Looks like a cap is missing, it's on the gearbox and might be where u access the flywheel??
Anyone any ideas??

thats the flywheel window. There should be a green/white cap tehre covering it up. If i was you i'd source one fast, as any stones or dirt that get in there could mean the end of your flywheel.
-
Its the window you use for timing the engine, you can see the two marks in the flywheel at tdc and 6 degrees BTDC. (see the setting up a 16v / 8v guide).
-
Could it also ruin the clutch and g'box?

Could it also ruin the clutch and g'box?
only if you were silly enough to try and fill it with oil

no way it'll damage the flywheel, its a big f**k off lump o metal! however the gearbox casing on the other hand is only aluminium, anything getting caught betweeen the box n fly will machine away the bellhousing. that being said mine has been missing for 3 years, i bugger about with the timing so often I never bother to fit it.

send me yours then johhny - mines missing

I've got the green bit but not the plug for the middle. That dissapeared many many moons ago!
