Hi all,
First post here like to say hello. Been reading the post, great info I must say.
I got 57 plate diamond black 5dr Dsg ed30. I love it, but do think the brakes can be improved :) Drove it to Brussels last weekend taken it to some serious MPHs. The car is still under warranty, I was wondering if I add a boost gauge will it void my warranty?
many thanks

Hi Marshmallow and welcome to the forum
Now where have I seen a car like yours (but in silver!)
Get some pics up when you can
Yes the brakes can definitely be improved upon (see my sig). Just use the search function on here and you'll find quite a few options popping up. It all depends on how much you want to spend.
As for adding the boost guage, It doesn't alter anything within the engine as it is simply a guage and so shouldn't affect your warranty

Welcome! Good colour choice and i agree about the brakes too!

Welcome to the forum!

Welcome Marshmallow!
Lets see some pics of an ED30 in the best colour!

It will only affect your warranty if VW can prove an attempted warranty claim for a fault is caused directly by the modification. As long as its fitted correctly you'll be fine.. which means no tapping into the vacuum for the fuel pressure regulator

Welcome

Welcome. Love the ED30 in black. I have one too - manual though. Also felt the brakes could have been improved. Take the dealer sticker off. Will make it look miles better.

....A Warm Welcome to the hottest GTI forum on the planet!
I love Eurotunnel because it's always followed by some happy motoring, especially if you go through Deutschland.
There are lots of brake options from just changing pads and a few components to a whole Big Brake Kit such as Hurdy's or mine. Also, using Seat(?) or R32 brake kits. Obviously I can highly recommend AP Racing's BBK - Brakes you can trust with direct pedal response and no snatching. But expect to pay around £1,700 - You only need fronts and 4-pot calipers unless you're building a stripped out track car with roll-cage etc.

Welcome to the madhouse mate
If you are wanting some better stoppers, but don't want to go for the 600 pot, Ceramic, 10000mm, F1 set up that Hurdy has. :grin:The R32 brakes are a popular option and not badly priced either..
Just out of interest, what speeds did the German tarmac witness in your ED30?
Is it standard also? Because if you spend much time on here, it won't be for long..

I wonder what colour options the GTI comes in on Mars!

I wonder what colour options the GTI comes in on Mars!
....Red of course! Not because mine is red and I'm born under the sign of Mars (Aries), but because Mars is aka The Red Planet.

....That explains a lot! Assuming of course that you accept a degree of belief in birth-sign characteristics.
So, marshmallow, you have entered the parallel world of a flower-power hippy love-fest!! 1976 was a good year not just for the motoring world.
