Title: Volksbits Exhausts
Post by: Dec on 08 September 2008, 21:58
I need to get a new exhaust for my car but only have £100 to spend. Ive seen this exhaust (link bellow) on volksbits but don't know if it will be anygood :undecided: (needs to pass an MOT and i want to have a nice tone)

http://www.independent-inventory.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=2385&osCsid=3f209593ad2b9960fd25da8a5b96ccc7

anyone had any experience with these?

Cheers,
Dec

i think kharekatoh has got one fitted to his. i get most of my parts from there as i only live 10 minutes away from the shop and the exhausts look fine

very true mate.
There pretty good quality from what i see and the sound is very good. They come with the bits you need too so its all there (only thing you need to buy is 2 exhauslt clamps. I think one of mine was 45mm and the other was 52mm.
Fit though is slight problem. It hangs pretty far to the right (looking from behind) and i had to use cable ties to hold it very still in place so it roughly in the middle-ish. The other problem is it sticks out a far bit, i think its made to fit big bumper models as a perfect fit, but small bumpers loking abit chavvy (its almost inline with the rear bumper if you look at it sideways)
Apart from that though, for £130 i paid for mine im pleased, and it turns heads when im around, sound spretty decent, not too loud and rattly can like, but kin dof refined and sporty, and it pops very nicely when giving it the beans and once warm.

Aside from it being a dtm though it's not a bad cheap exhaust? I just want something that sounds better than a standard one without costing too much!

£100 just for a back box!?

I bought one there a couple of years back. The fit is gash so I took it back and had a powerflow back box done. Good fit and sounded great all for £110. I don't like the quality of some of volksbits gear either. Just my opinion mind you

Should be able to DIY few bolts here, few bolts there.  Wasn't you father a mechanic?  Surely he could help?

lucky for me mine came off a mk2 golf gti so all i needed was a reducer and some exhaust sealent. i also have a powerflow midbox which came with the backbox which cost me £30 altogether
