Title: Need proper power..where, how?

Getting back into GTI after years off the scene and need an up-date.
My old Golf was 1.9 TSR big valve head etc etc but feel it wouldn't cut it on todays track days.

How do you make these cars a serious track day weopon?

Starting with engine. Are there off the shelf engines such as TSR any good, do we go super charged, 16v?

What kind of power is accessable these days or maybe things haven't moved on.

Any help would be apreciated

get a nice S3 lump put in (1.8 20v turbo), 225bhp as standard, job done  :grin:
