Title: No more mods for my ED30
Post by: SteveP on 07 September 2008, 20:42
...because I have brought something else to play with: -

It's a 91 8v in need of some TLC as the red paint is looking more pink in places and has a couple of mechanical niggles.

3 previous owners and a full stack of history including all service receipts/invoices and every previous mot.

Hmm i think you bought that to help feed your new obsession of detailing  , it does have that RedRobin hue
Are you going to use the new one for work  :undecided:

Ive always wanted to have a MK2 as a project car, fancy myself a nice little white one.

Best of luck with the project, I'm sure it will look great once you've given it some TLC.

That was also the first thing I thought too, but unlike RR's, which in real life (and Horney's pics) looks great, this on in the flesh needs a proper going over with the megs G220 polisher.

White, grey and red where the colours I was on the look out for, all the white ones I found where either too expensive or had been molested too much.

This was the first original one I found for a very good price.

Get rid of it before it breaks down, even if it carries on working, it will also be damn hard work on VW paint. Get yourself a rotary, they are soooo much better. You have to be careful and keep it moving so the paint doesn't get hot, but what fantastic resuts in a lot less time.

Good find

Are you going to do an iriginal style renovation or a smoothed lowered look?

My Megs is just fine  (it's one of the new batch anyway) but for the future a rotary will be on the list.

Looks good, is there not a danger you end up needing to spend loads on it and becomes a bottomless pit?

well i thought exactly what i expected..... 1 step up from the gti, it has everything the gti has and does everything the gti does.... but better  it feels alot better made, interior looks more darker and seems be be of a better quality, 260bhp standard, didnt seem faster than my car but didnt feel slower either, after reamap and a few other mods it would be a seriously fast car with the 4x4 action

test drove a white s3 with dsg, and i know what dsg stands for now...... dog sh!t gearing

anyway my saving has started

No offense robin but you spoke about going off topic in threads and here in a thread about a MK2 you start asking opinions about S3's which we all know will most certainly change the topic as we have 2 S3 owners here and many that want one...

The MK2 looks great. Give it a good detail and lower it and it will be an absolute minter. Just wish they were more common here in SA. You cant find them anywhere.

....No offence taken, Mike. You will note that I haven't continued the S3 subject in this thread. Earlier I had expressed an opinion which criticised people going off topic for numerous posts, just just a couple.

Back on topic, I think that Phil is keen to get a Mk2 - It seems there plenty to be had.

Here's mine alongside Chuff's Mk2 at The Pod : -

both stunning cars. since the mk1 and mk2 there just hasn't been another "golf" in my opinion until the mk5

....Agreed as far as VW factory released versions are concerned. There are some very cool but tastefully modded Mk3 and Mk4's about though but the stock ones were a disappointment imo. Mk2 is my favourite after the Mk5.
