everyone remember a couple of months ago when both my rear springs snapped? well I had those 2 replaced and left the front 2 to be changed when I had the TT engine put in (funnily enough it's going in today). Last night I jumped in and heard a really loud 'twang'. One of the front springs just snapped.
This time it's not in the middle like on the back. Only half a coil has snapped off right at the top. I drove all the way home on that doing 100+ :o
Are cheap springs prone for doing this? they'd been on the car for 2 and a half years with me owning it. dunno how long before that? -60mm drop afaik.

its like anything else, the more you pay the better the quality
when i got the eibach springs in mine we comapred an eibach against a std 16v spring the number of coils and also the thickness of coils in the eibach spring was far superior to the std item
cheap lowering springs are usually weaker than the std item hence making it sit lower
cheap lowering springs are for looks and not handling

I'm putting Raceland ones all round now. since putting the rear ones on I've noticed the back end is more firm now. maybe it's cos they're 16v ones and slightly harder than the 8v ones I had before. We'll see.

how much are eibach springs??

These guys do them at a reasonable price.

Time you got some coilovers dizzy?
dont want crap ride quality with that TT engine do ya ;)

na. I think coil overs are a bit of a novelty really. I mean I'd just slam it and then when I wanted it up they'd be all seezed. I just plan to get some -80mm springs (probably eibach) and some Koni's or something when the time comes. ride quality is nice at the mo.

Two kids who work at GSF in my town have slammed 1300cc C golfs with like an inch of ground clearence, There always giving me greif about not having any ground clearence, But at the end of the day, I can enjoy driving my car in the country side, 3inches of ground clearence is low enaugh for me ;)

You will have the last laugh if they fit GSF parts... :D

Got a set of Eibachs (30mm drop over standards) for ?110 + vat. My ride is now firm but not too harsh, and I get almost zero body roll! Goes round corners like its on rails!!!
