Hi, I've just got an R reg Golf GTI that's in fantastic condition with the exception of three rust patches. One is on the bottom corner of the rear door and the other two are in the inside of the rear door (where there's a rubber seal - to stop the water coming in!!!)
I was just wondering what I should do? Do I go to a Body Shop and get a quote for the whole lot or is there anything I can do myself?
If I were to get it done at a body shop what kind of price would we be talking for this? Or is that like asking how long's a piece of string!
The one on the outside is bubbling and the other two are clearly showing rust but all appear hard to the knock i.e. I can't put my finger through the metal yet!

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Needs stripping back to bare metal (wire wool attachment on a drill) so the metal is shiney, then anti-rust treatment, high build primer then paint as normal.
Body shop might be pricey & as the repairs are quite localised I'd be tempted to DIY it.
Probably less than £50 if you do it yourself, but could always do the hard bit yourself, upto primer then get a paint shop to do the paint, probably talking about £50-£70 on top of your costs.
Total guess but maybe £200+ for a body shop to do the lot (?)

Thanks for the advice and price indication - very much appreciated... I'll post some photos of the car when I'm 100% satisfied with it.
