I love my golf to bits and while I know a bit about engines, I want to get to know all about the golf engines. I was thinking of buying a VW service manual from ebay to find out, but is this a good idea? Has anyone done this before? Or does anyone know other ways to learn about the engines?

Check out TT's helpful manual links here:

VW TSB are also good place to start if you can find them online (UK TSB's are but UK not).

I have just tried them Jimp and they all still seam to work, are you right clicking and selecting save as?
-
Yep I think Steve is correct here. If you just click on them, then they don't work, however if you right click and save as, then they download as pdf's and work fine.
Very useful information in them.

Ah I see, I'm using firefox and it says in the post that they won't work with firefox. I'll try again with internet explorer.

Nope, not working for me
I'm getting this every time:

What browser are you using? Are you at work? Maybe a "tight" firewall! (Sometimes, tight isn't always the best!     ).
Just hover your mouse pointer over the item you want, then right click. From the little menu, select "save target as", and store it in folder on your desktop or wherever. I tried them last week (when I last amended the post), and they worked for me!

I've tried on both firefox and internet explorer, no firewalls up or anything, through different download managers and other methods but no luck

I think there might lie your problem. Disable the download manager, and just download one at a time the normal way.

Yep, sorted. Thanks for the help .
