Has anyone classed/declared the VW factory fitted 18'' Monza II as a modification on their insurance policy?
Or are these standard on a 57 reg Gti.
-
New insurance policies like to class them as factory modification's now day's it depends who your with. Mine wont pay out on any extra other than the DSG
-
Declared them on mine but modification/premium not increased. It's that time again and will be searching for best price

Mr Geek recently did a thread on this.

Surely they aren't a modification if they come as an option from the factory. If so, do you have to declare your centre armrest, ipod prep etc as modifications too?
-
My insurer notes them as a modification but has no effect on the premium.

Geek I still resemble that remark. :nerd:
Indeed I did, and found the Chris Knott would include all of my factory options and aftermarket mods on a like for like basis.

Got the centre armrest, but again aint sure about that either!
I know some insurers wanted extra for the factory fitted rear window tints!
-
Mine are included in my policy as factoryfitted options but made no difference to the premium as far as I'm aware.
My car was brand new and if it gets stolen/written off within the firat 12 months then it gets replaced with a like-for like replacement, so if I didn't declare them the replacement wouldn't have the extra bits on it!

some companies will do anything to get out of a claim so it's always a good idea to check with your company if they need to know about factory mods
