Title: *Driving Music*
Post by: Pirelli_P on 05 September 2008, 13:48
So...some Fri fun!

What music do people here listen to when driving / What is your favourite driving song/album? What gets you going in the Mk5?

Maybe provide:

Artist -- Track title -- Album title -- Genre

That way if anyone is interested in listening to new stuff it can be easily found!

Obv since people's taste in music is likely to differ maybe try to avoid saying if you don't like an artist or type of music. Just keep it to what you recommend to others not that BandX is sh!te!  :nerd:

I'll kick things off:

Angels & Airwaves -- The Adventure -- We Don't Need To Whisper -- Rock

In the Imortal words of a certain Radio 1 DJ.

"Yo, it's your boy Westwood and if you're in your ride get your lean on. Fasten your seat at 45 degrees with your eyes just pimpin over the dash. You should be lying practically horizontal! Turn the volume to the max till your eyeballs are shakin, the hair on your head is vibrating, your window screen is bendin and your rear view mirror is shaking."

Its not related to a technical question about the Mk5 no, obv. But it is aimed at those of us who drive a mk5 GTI so, yes it is Mk5 related!

....I love music, I am a musician, but I never listen to any music or radio while driving - It's a distraction I don't want. While parked up waiting, it's a different matter and I then listen to various iPod playlists I've created.

I rarely listen to music while driving but when I do it depends on what I'm doing.
Going here and there: Rufio, Cartel, The Starting Line, Taking Back Sunday, The Early November. That kind of stuff.
For proper cruisin' or when it's party time I turn up Pendulum or some trance/hardstyle   .

You have such a good taste, those are regulars in my car too, add Hit the Lights, Blink 182, Funeral For a Friend and Jimmy Eat World to the list too.

Plus of course if your riding dirty the likes of 50 Cent et al know where its at!

Fleetwood mac - chain
Maze - twilight, or too many games
Stylistics - all
Natalie Imbruglia - all
Kylie - all
James Taylor - all
Al Stewart - all
Manhattan Transfer - all
ELO - all
Status Quo - all
Rainbow - all

I could go on, but you've probably guessed I have a fairly eclectic taste in music.  The only stuff I really don't like is garage, hip hop, drum'n'bass, grunge and the like.  I even like classical music, but SWMBO goes ape!

mix of russian songs (70s-80s, when they were not just collection of words and plays on sex),
mix of swedish songs

or nothing, which happens more often.

Tired of music in the car, I drive to relax.

Most of my driving is on country roads.  Who needs music when the DSG is blipping the throttle every few seconds as I power out of corners.

On tedious motorway and dual carriageway runs (that I try to avoid) I listen to R4.
